Harry was born in Belfast in 1945, growing up in a city full of character, resilience and strong community spirit. Those early years in Northern Ireland helped shape the man he would become.

As a young man, Harry moved to England, where life took an important turn when he met Susan. Together they built a life grounded in family and shared ambition. He and Susan welcomed Michael, Eleanor and Robert together. Elizabeth, Harry’s daughter from a previous marriage, later came to live with them. Harry was a proud father, and family was always an important part of his life.

In 1989, Harry and Susan embarked on an entrepreneurial venture together, founding Clean Green, a commercial cleaning company. Through determination and long hours, they built the business from the ground up.

In 2000, Harry and Susan decided to embrace a new adventure and moved to Spain. They spent eight years there enjoying a different pace of life before returning to the United Kingdom in 2008. Never one to shy away from new challenges, Harry soon set his sights further afield and moved to Africa with the aim of starting a water purification business. The project reflected his desire to build something meaningful.

Eventually, ill health brought Harry back to the UK, where he spent his remaining years in Essex. Retirement allowed him to focus on the things that had always brought him joy: family, football and helping others.

Harry was a passionate supporter of Northern Ireland football. He loved travelling to watch the national team play and held a season ticket at Windsor Park, something he took great pride in. Those trips, following the team and sharing the excitement of match days, were among the experiences he treasured most.

He also gave his time generously to others. As a volunteer with a befriending service, Harry spent time with people who felt lonely, offering companionship, conversation and kindness. It was work that suited him well, as he had a natural way of connecting with people and making them feel valued.

Harry was a proud grandfather and he shared close bonds with his grandchildren Alec, Amelia, Charlotte, Penny, Toby, Olivia and Lucia, each of whom brought great happiness to his life.

Harry passed away peacefully at home on 11 February 2026, surrounded by his family, exactly as he wished. He will be remembered as a determined man who embraced life’s opportunities, cared deeply for those around him, and never lost his connection to his roots in Northern Ireland. His legacy lives on in his family, the many lives he touched, and the memories he created with those who knew and loved him.

There was so much more to Harry Dixon than met the eye! A deep, private and proud and principled man from Northern Ireland Harry contributed so much more to the underprivileged people of Africa in terms of clothing and water supply and most recently by regularly phoning blind and lonely people in need of company. And he was a true family man who loved and cherished all his children and enjoyed their company and companionship especially when travelling all over the world in support of his beloved Northern Ireland. He was a truly good man who will be greatly missed !

My name is Colleen and my mother ,Pat McGonigal, was Harry’s cousin. I only knew Harry for a brief time as we connected while I was searching for info on the Dixon family. Harry made me feel like I was part of his family instantly even though we had never met in person and are thousands of miles apart. He shared with me stories of him and my mom that I will always keep with me. A wonderful, kind man will be missed.
