In loving memory of Lorna Sally Pye who sadly passed away suddenly on 19th February 2026, a beloved Wife, Mum, Grandma and Great Grandma.
Lorna was born in Yardley, Birmingham, the middle daughter of three girls. She moved to Mansfield in 1963 when she married Harry. Lorna worked as an Accounts Clerk, initially at Rouse builders in Mansfield Woodhouse and subsequently with the Training and Enterprise council and the Housing Association. She was an active member of Inner Wheel, serving as President twice and helping to raise money for charities both locally and further afield. She became a trustee of the Buxton Cottages and a Magistrate, serving the community for 20 years.
Lorna was a keen sailor. She and Harry have been members of Ogston Sailing Club since 1963, sailing a 505 racing dinghy with great success and a reputation for their competitiveness on the water, earning numerous trophies in the process. Lorna and Harry subsequently acquired a sea-faring sailing boat in Poole, upgrading to a 32 foot Westerly Fulmar and enjoying many holidays along the south coast, the Scilly Isles, northern France and southern Ireland, both on their own and with friends and family.
Following retirement, Lorna remained active and involved in the community. She and Harry were members of Maun Conservation Group, helping to maintain the Quarry lane and Oakham nature reserves, and thoroughly enjoyed the U3A. Lorna managed the administration for the Tai Chi group and was also a member of the Beading Group and Read-a-little. They have enjoyed a number of outings and residential trips. Lorna was also a talented Bridge player. She delighted in the company of others and had a huge circle of friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Lorna leaves her husband Harry, children Helen and Robert, grandchildren Laurie, Fred, Katie, Archie and Grace and great grandson Finn.
