My mother Annie was cousin to Edith and Billy Stewart, and we first met Maureen at age 13 or 14 on a visit to Nottingham many years ago. Since then we have kept in touch over the years mainly due to Maureen's frequent communication. I am so pleased that we were able to get together more often in our later years during my visits from Canada. She was a lovely lady and I will miss her delightful greeting cards and letters, and good natured humour! Rest in peace, Cousin Maureen!
Many thanks to Edward Stewart for posting all the wonderful family photographs, which brought back many memories. Sincere condolences to you all, Bill Rosier

Happy Memories of Maureen
At school some fellow pupils were curious why I lived in Belfast but had many relatives in Nottingham.
I explained that my grandfather, who was a manager with Post Office Telephones in Belfast, was promoted to a post in Nottingham. He and all his family, except my mother, relocated to Nottingham. My mother opted not to leave Belfast as she was already engaged to Albert Hedgcock.
When I attended courses at my works college in Staffordshire, I visited Nottingham frequently at weekends and often went with my grandfather to Trent Bridge, and of course visited, my Uncle Billy, Maureen’s father, Aunt Edith, Maureen and her brothers Neil and Gordon. On a few occasions we went on short cycle trips beyond West Bridgford. Similarly, Maureen’s family visited Northern Ireland and enjoyed visits to Belfast, Giant’s Causeway, Mournes etc.
Maureen and I continued to keep in touch over the years and enjoyed telephone conversations and exchanged Christmas and Birthday cards.
On my last visit to Nottingham Maureen kindly drove to my Grandparents’ former home on George Road and it brought back lots of happy memories.
I extend my condolences to all Maureen’s relatives and friends.
Peter Hedgcock, Maureen's cousin.

So sorry to hear the sad news about Maureen.
My memories of Maureen; she was chatty, jolly and keen to hear about my work and travel adventures. Maureen enjoyed hearing about all the family in Belfast, Ontario and Tulsa.
She introduced me to The Lady Magazine when I was young and looking for interesting work opportunities. Maureen loved her car and driving and took my Dad and me on a wonderful tour of Nottingham and the nearby countryside the last time we were together.
Thank you Edward, it is lovely to see your variety of photographs of Maureen and family.
With love and sympathy, Ciara Hedgcock, (daughter of Maureen's cousin Peter).
