In loving memory of Gloria Roebuck who sadly passed away on 6th January 2026

Christine Smith wrote

Gloria was one of my oldest friends. I met her when she was dating Pete, when we were both 19. Pete was good friends with my husband Paul and they had met at Nottingham Trent College.

Pete and Gloria married in 1970 and my husband was best man. Through the following years we kept in touch through the birth of all our children and our seven year move to California.

Coming home we got in touch again and, when our children were older, went on holiday with them to Italy and France.

In later years and following Gloria's degree we went on holiday together to Egypt and then Machu Pichu, Peru. She absorbed all the history and archaeological evidence and proved she had a fine, enquiring mind.

Gloria set me an example to carry on with my own degree. I shall be forever grateful to her and remember her with thoughts of how she liked to have fun yet retained that scholarly mind.

Beautiful Gloria I was saddened by your passing in January. Gloria was an incredible person who touched many lives with her kindness and warmth.

So wonderful to meet Elaine Vicky Sharon and the long Eaton sliver prize band they did her so proud yesterday . The girls care and amazing support during her final months was truly outstanding. Getting her out and about really helped her to cope after the loss of pete. She loved you all so much
She would tell me how grateful she was that you took the time to help her even contacting us all and making sure we were update when she was in hospital it was so reassuring for us all .so I thank you from the bottom of our heart for that.
True friends
We will truly miss you
Gloria was a beautiful soul "A true lady"

You are at Rest with your son and Pete.

Will truly miss you love Sharon x

"Hi-de-hi" Gloria! I will always remember the many times you would open the side door of your house to our family and welcome us in with that warm greeting and wonderful cheer. We loved coming round yours and Pete's, hearing stories of the places you have been, the people you had met, the projects that Pete was working on. We had many wonderful Christmas evenings round yours, laughing and playing parlour games. And of course you always fed us so well, even if you thought my brother and would eat you out of house and home! I miss you and Pete dearly. Love Paul
PS I was very honoured that you could attend mine and Emma's wedding - I will share a couple of photos from the day

Dear Gloria what a shock to hear that you passed away on 6th January. When I last saw you in November you were finding it very difficult but you carried on going to the Robin Hood Club and other events that you and Pete went to. You missed Pete so much and struggled without him. It was a big comfort to see you buried next to him today. You will be dancing together with the angels and your son Dean. You will always remain in my heart ♥️ much love Janet xx💋💋

My Mum certainly made the most of life and had many adventures in many places around the world. I feel her life was cut short, I was always convinced she would be around for much much longer. She missed my Dad so much since his passing, now she will be with him for eternity. Sorry I cannot be there in person, if you read this (Mum) its Donald's fault, I was flying via the Middle East. I will let you deal with him in due course. Rest in peace mum, love Dan
