In loving memory of Angela Mary Capocci who sadly passed away on 4th February 2026.

Angela was born and raised in Winchmore Hill, North London, in a family rooted in teaching and faith - two passions that would define her life. Her mother hailed from a proud Lancashire Catholic family, and four of Angela's uncles were Catholic priests. She studied Spanish at King's College London before training as a primary school teacher at Aberystwyth University.

She began her career at St Edmund's Catholic Primary School in Edmonton, where she also led a group of cub scouts. She married Frank in 1971 and they settled in Southampton, where she became a beloved teacher at Springhill School.

She taught across all year groups but her heart belonged to the reception class, where she could use her remarkable creativity to help young children discover the joy of learning. She gave up teaching after the birth of her first daughter Helen, later returning to teaching when her youngest started school.

A devoted member of St Joseph's Parish since the early 1970s, Angela served her church community with energy and warmth - as reader, minister of communion, parish council member, and prayer leader. She was deeply involved in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement, and had a particular gift for praying with people for healing.

She and Frank shared in many ecumenical missions across England with Through Faith Missions, and her leadership qualities were recognised wherever she went. More recently, she and Frank joined a weekly prayer group at St James Road Methodist Church in Shirley, where she was greatly loved.

Angela was a woman whose kindness and compassion seemed to know no bounds. Even after retiring from a lifelong career in teaching, she continued to dedicate herself to others — teaching asylum seekers English, and too many other voluntary causes to list here.

Angela's hands were never idle. She knitted, crocheted, sewed, painted, gardened, and cooked - always creating something for someone else. Her creativity, generosity, and warmth touched everyone who knew her.

A loving wife to Frank, devoted mother to Helen, Mary, Paula, and Bob, and adoring Nonna to her six grandchildren - Finn, Rosa, Nancy, Adelaide, Rupert and Florence - Angela had a rare gift for making people feel special.

Mike and I met Angela and Frank through St Joseph's and particularly through our shared love of poetry. Dear friends. But Angela and I soon found we had another connection. We were brought up very close to each other in North London, far enough away not to meet, but latterly we shared some great memories of our lives there. How lucky were we to have Angela in our lives. Love and prayers for Angela, Frank and the family.

Dear Angela’s quiet and gently supportive manner will be missed at our Monday Painters group. She exhibited with us at Atherley Artists where she showed her gift for art in her lovely paintings. Her calm friendly manner added to the fun of exhibiting with her. Rest in God’s Grace Angela. Much love to Frank and their family

💜 SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL REMAINS 💜

The tide recedes, but leaves behind
Bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down, but gentle warmth
Still lingers on the land.

The music stops, yet echoes on
In sweet, soulful refrains.
For every joy that passes
Something beautiful remains.

May you rest in peace, Angela.
Bless you and thank you.

Linda de Winter ( Sister-in-Law )

Ahhhhh Mrs Capocci! My beloved teacher and Mum to my dear friend Bob :-) She made learning as fun as possible and we were constantly making videos in class (one particularly great one was an advert for thatched roofs!). And when I went into hospital for a big operation - she got the whole class to write me a letter each, make me a card (each) and then made a video of everyone (individually) saying hello to me. I still have all those cards and letters and remember feeling so grateful to her for making sure I didn't feel forgotten on my 6mths off school. Oh and she let us watch Charlene and Scott's wedding as a class activity! Amazing. Soooo many fond memories of her and I know how dearly missed she will be. All my love xxxxx

Our sincere condolences to Frank, girls and extended families.
Angela taught our eldest girl in her Reception class at Springhill-it was a great start to her time in Primary school. Angela was very inclusive and often invited Joe to tell stories and sing Ghanaian songs to the class. I also was welcomed to read a couple of stories in Gaelic!
When our middle daughter started school, Angela introduced the new class! Unfortunately, this was the year she decided to retire, much to our disappointment!
We became friends when we moved into the area and Angela started attending my fitness classes. My daughters have fond memories of feeding the cat and doing little jobs for Angela and Frank-it was their first job!
May Angela’s gentle soul rest in peace. She was a lady!

Our heartfelt condolences to Frank and his children. Angela was the most wonderful reception teacher to my first born son, giving him the best start to his education. He fondly remembers that Mrs Capocci smelled of oranges. Myself and my friend took turns every other Friday reading with the reception class. It was a joy to see Angela in action. Angela later tutored my youngest son at her beautiful home. He always started the lesson with binoculars looking at the birds in the garden and identifying them referencing them in a glossy bird book. Latterly my friend and I often met Angela and Frank on our walks. She always asked after our children; each of them by name. What a woman. What a beautiful soul.

Dear Angela was a wonderful friend of myself and Heidi my late wife. Heidi first met her when she started teaching at Springhill school and Angela, who was a gifted teacher, guided her and Heidi learned a great deal from her. Angela was so kind, thoughtful and loving. She was a real 'people person' and we were always made very welcome at the happy home of her and Frank. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends in the church and elsewhere. I pray she and Heidi are together in Heaven having a good laugh and a wonderful time. God bless both their souls.
