In loving memory of Angela Mary Capocci who sadly passed away on 4th February 2026.
Angela was born and raised in Winchmore Hill, North London, in a family rooted in teaching and faith - two passions that would define her life. Her mother hailed from a proud Lancashire Catholic family, and four of Angela's uncles were Catholic priests. She studied Spanish at King's College London before training as a primary school teacher at Aberystwyth University.
She began her career at St Edmund's Catholic Primary School in Edmonton, where she also led a group of cub scouts. She married Frank in 1971 and they settled in Southampton, where she became a beloved teacher at Springhill School.
She taught across all year groups but her heart belonged to the reception class, where she could use her remarkable creativity to help young children discover the joy of learning. She gave up teaching after the birth of her first daughter Helen, later returning to teaching when her youngest started school.
A devoted member of St Joseph's Parish since the early 1970s, Angela served her church community with energy and warmth - as reader, minister of communion, parish council member, and prayer leader. She was deeply involved in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement, and had a particular gift for praying with people for healing.
She and Frank shared in many ecumenical missions across England with Through Faith Missions, and her leadership qualities were recognised wherever she went. More recently, she and Frank joined a weekly prayer group at St James Road Methodist Church in Shirley, where she was greatly loved.
Angela was a woman whose kindness and compassion seemed to know no bounds. Even after retiring from a lifelong career in teaching, she continued to dedicate herself to others — teaching asylum seekers English, and too many other voluntary causes to list here.
Angela's hands were never idle. She knitted, crocheted, sewed, painted, gardened, and cooked - always creating something for someone else. Her creativity, generosity, and warmth touched everyone who knew her.
A loving wife to Frank, devoted mother to Helen, Mary, Paula, and Bob, and adoring Nonna to her six grandchildren - Finn, Rosa, Nancy, Adelaide, Rupert and Florence - Angela had a rare gift for making people feel special.
