In loving memory of Gordon Forsyth who sadly passed away on 31st January 2026.

It is with deep sadness that the family of Gordon Forsyth announces his passing on 31st January 2026 at age 75. Gordon was a loving husband, dad and grandad, who will be sorely missed.

Gordon Forsyth was born in Frizington, Cumbria, to Harold and Ethel (Terri) Forsyth and he was from a big family with 7 other siblings.

Upon leaving school, Gordon worked at Sellafield nuclear plant for mere couple of months, before subsequently joining the army and joined the Royal Electric Mechanical Engineers Regiment and ended up finishing the army with the rank of sergeant.

Gordon then employed by Bristow Helicopters in 1977 as an avionics engineer and subsequently then travelled to a number of countries around the world, including The Falklands, Nigeria, Kazakhstan and India to name a few.

Gordon’s first marriage saw his first daughter enter the world in 1975. He then met his second wife in June 1977 and married again for second time in May 1982 amid his second daughter entered the world in 1983.

Gordon enjoyed, especially when he was younger, doing fell walking and would often be away all weekend on these walks. He also enjoyed doing cryptic crosswords and puzzles. He was also a regular to local pubs.

In lieu of flowers or those who may not be able to attend, donations may be made to Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air ambulance. Believe this is fitting due to Gordon’s career.

Gordon was one of my older brothers. He had a heart of gold. He left home when I was very young, but lived to visit Mum. She’d prepare a big breakfast for him! He once did a test flight of a helicopter to a field near home and visited our Mum. He was in NI serving at the time. Who knows what he saw!
I miss his shaggy dog tales that would last for hours.
May he be comfortable and pain free now!

Gordon, was a great brother in law to me and uncle to my 4 children. He was there when sometimes no one else was. When he visited Egremont, he would say hi to his parents spend a little time then wander to the pub calling at mine on the way. He would knock on the door and when answered say hi give a hug and walk to the fridge for a can. We would have a catch up. He was a great dad and husband. We will miss you Gordon, but your not suffering now.
