In loving memory of Maureen 'Mo' Edith Harvey who sadly passed away on 30th January 2026

Maureen was born in Liverpool and lived there in Florist Street for her first nine years attending Pleasant Street school.

After her mother’s divorce she move to Vernon Road, Bow when her Mother remarried.

Leaving school at 16, having taken typing lessons, she first worked at the Post Office headquarters in London and subsequently at an horoscope writers office which was linked to a dating agency. I always joked with her as to why she never got a date.

She met me when she joined the insurance broking firm I worked for in September 1965 at the age of 18.

We first kissed on Christmas Eve 1965 and were immediately in love and have been through the last 60 years.

She finished her working career at 21 when our first son Alan was born and was a stay at home mother through the birth of our second son Christopher and thereafter.

You have only to see our grown sons with their lovely wives and grandchildren to understand what a great job she has done in nurturing a loving family.

Maureen was a caring loving woman who had many friends for whom she was always ready to help or offer
advice.

She had a calm, serene nature but if anyone did or said anything hurtful about a family member the inner tigress would emerge.

Her love for me and the family was always constant and true and nothing pleased her more than being with her family.

She bore her illness with great strength and despite some awful side effects from the Chemotherapy soldiered on for as long as she could to be with me and the family.until at last she could take no more.

Whilst she was in a coma I held her and said“I love you” she opened her eyes and said “ I love you too” and pursed her lips for a kiss. I truly believe that was the strength of her love coming through.

She died peacefully and painlessly at home, as she had wished, with me, our sons and wives together with grandchildren present.

Before Maureen died she had some gold items melted down and asked for the money raised to be donated to Fairhavens.

Rest in peace my beautiful friend Maureen

From the moment I first met you, I felt at ease with your warmth and kindness. Every week that went by I found it a joy to be in your company, all the silliness of life we shared together and made comparisons with each other with all the giggles and quirks never stopped.

You are an amazing person, who so much loved her family and was so proud of everything they had achieved in their lives. Brian is the rock in your life as you recounted all the lovely stories of all the wonderful things he had surprised you with and how hard he worked to provide you with a wonderful life together. This enabled you to stay at home and bring up your two beautiful boys, the gift of every woman to nurture and cherish your family as all your lives unfolded by your guidance, knowledge and love, something every woman would cherish and you felt so blessed to be able to bestow this gift of life on your family.

As the years went by and our friendship grew the giggles got sillier but in the twenty years that drifted by I saw the love and joy you had with your family unit you so much adored and as a friend you were like one of my sisters. I felt very blessed to have shared my time with you and Brian, always warm, kind, honest and fun as I said at the start of my note to you my friend and a beautiful soul.

Mo, you were the best godmother in the world. Your wicked laugh would leave me with belly aches, it was contagious, unforgettable, and filled every room with life. It’s a sound that we will always carry in our hearts.

Beyond the laughter, you gave the most amazing advice. You had a way of listening deeply and speaking with honesty, wisdom, and love. So many of us leaned on your words, and they will continue to guide us even now.

My thoughts are with Brian, your boys, your daughter-in-law's and all your grandchildren. May they find comfort in the beautiful memories you leave behind.

Much love,
Claudia and Tony xxxxxx

It is said the each of us walk our “lives” alone , but I believe we are touched by those around us. So thank you, for your kindness and affection to mum always checking on her through the years . We did see a lot of each other over the years but I always knew you was both there if I needed you. I remember coming into your house , recently returning from South Africa aged 6 and I thought the place was amazing and concluded it must be heaven looks like… there where foil decorations hang from the ceilings (of course it was Christmas) I hope there are some sparkles where you are now … my aunt x
