In loving memory of Michael James 'Mick' Langston who sadly passed away on 23rd January 2026, aged 75 years.
Mick was born to John and Doris Langston on 19 May 1950 in Battersea, and grew up with his brother and sister, Dave and Sally.
He attended Shaftesbury Park primary school with Dave and Sally, before going to Aristotle Secondary School in Brixton with Dave.
He left school at 16 to work as an apprentice draughtsman for 6 months, before getting a job in the science lab at Kings College, University of London. He met his wife Shirley through the university social club after Shirley and her friends took his regular spot at the dart board.
He proposed to Shirley on 14 February 1970, and was married on 10 April 1971, moving to Norbury.
Mick moved to Chatham with Shirley in 1972, and a few years later secured a job as a marine insurance technologist working for Lloyds and then later Xchanging.
He had 2 loving sons, Mark born on 25 November 1975, and James born on 30 January 1983.
Family was always the most important thing to Mick and he was always enjoying time with his family whenever he could.
He doted on his granddaughters, Evie and Anna, born 19 April 2016 and 2 April 2020 respectively.
Mick was a keen photographer, often disappearing off to try and get the perfect camera shot in the coldest of weather. He also supported Fulham Football Club and often cited the 1966 World Cup in any exchange on whether England would bring it home.
Mick was universally loved, with the most common description of him being a kind gent. He was also a great prankster and liked a good joke, sometimes taking it too far.
Mick passed away at Medway Maritime Hospital after a short illness.
Donations in Mick's memory would be gratefully received for 'Cancer Research UK' and may be made online via the link on this page.
