Jennifer Ann Kirkham (8 Feb 1945 - 16 Jan 2026)

My thoughts are with Derek, Matthew and the rest of Jenny’s family x

We have so many warm memories of Jenny/grandma. She is our hearts💕

A little bit about Jenny:

Jenny was born in Burton in 1945 and grew up there until she attended nursing college in Birmingham in the mid-1960s. She enjoyed the vibrant “Swinging Sixties” in England’s second city, where she met her husband, Derek. They were happily married for 60 years.

Jenny and Derek welcomed their son, Matthew, in 1974. The family moved several times before settling back in Burton in 1986. Jenny worked at Burton’s Queen’s Hospital for 20 years, where she was a much-loved member of staff. During this time, she returned to study at the University of Wolverhampton, earning several diplomas and eventually becoming a ward manager.

Jenny always had an open heart and a gift for seeing the best in people. She loved being involved in her community—whether through fundraising for the Scouts, supporting the local school, or, more recently, leading activities with the Women’s Institute (WI), where she served as branch chair.

Jenny will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her

Jenny has been a great friend and neighbour for many years. She will be deeply missed.
Our thoughts are with Derek, Matthew, Annika and Emily at this sad time.

Jenny was a very special lady, especially to those of us who knew her as an enthusiatic, energetic member of Stapenhill WI.
She will be sadly missed but leaves behind many happy memories not least for personally delivering WI literature during the Covid lock downs. Jenny together with her friend Jane told me they enjoyed being nosey about where members lived!!

Jenny and I worked together for many years in the Operating Theatres at the General Hospital in New Street back in the day! Always an efficient, reliable colleague with a lovely quiet, calming presence but still with a twinkle in her eye! Condolences to Derek and Matthew. RIP Jenny🙏

I was Jennys hairdresser for years, I loved and enjoyed our catch-ups, you was always interested in what I’d got to say x I loved hearing about what you was doing and where you were going with WI, rest in peace Jenny, sending my sincere condolences to Derek and family x

In memory of Jenny.

Jenny was a good friend and I miss her. We enjoyed many happy outings when I was invited to join her WI group on theatre trips and visits. Over the past few years we have visited our friend Jane in Riverside Nursing home. Rest in peace Jenny. xx

It was always a pleasure to be in your company and over the past few years when you served as president of Stapenhill WI I formed a closer friendship with you.My thoughts are with Derek and Matthew and his family at this sad time

We were so very lucky to enjoy your company as our neighbour this last 18 months. You were a delight Jenny - a very special lady with a great sense of humour and an interest in life. You loved your garden and all things WI - I’m sure you will be very missed by the wider community. Hugs, Debs xx
