Dear Friends,

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the funeral arrangements for Malcolm, a wonderful dad, doting papa, caring brother and brother-in-law, and a very dear friend to many.

Malcolm's death has come as shock to us all. Having celebrated Christmas with family, he passed away at his home on Tuesday 30th December.

Malcolm's strong commitment to his Christian faith shone through everything he did, not least as a dedicated husband; nursing his precious Anna with love, gentleness and endless prayer through her illness. We are delighted that they are again reunited in the arms of Jesus, but his loss leaves a huge hole in our lives, and he will of course remain in our hearts and those of many others forever.

Date: Wednesday 11th February 2026

The day will begin with a short service of committal at 12 pm at Calverton Parish Cemetery, Mansfield Lane, Calverton, Nottinghamshire, NG14 6HL. Friends are invited to join the family at the graveside should they wish to. However, please do bear in mind that parking for the cemetery is on Mansfield Lane and there is no covered area in case of bad weather.

Following the committal, everyone is warmly invited to join us for a Service of Thanksgiving at Calverton Baptist Church, Main Street, Calverton, NG14 6FG. Guests are welcome to arrive from 1pm for a hot drink, generously provided by the church. There is no specific dress code so please feel free to dress comfortably (and warm) and be prepared to celebrate a life well lived.

The Service of Thanksgiving will commence at 1:30 pm. There is a car park (restricted to 2hrs), in the village centre just off Crookdole Lane and opposite the Post Office. (Use NG14 6HZ in your Sat Nav). Other on-street parking (not time restricted) is available on the surrounding streets.

After we have celebrated Malcolm's life, we would be delighted to have you join us for light refreshments at Ramsdale Park, Oxton Road, Calverton, NG14 6NU. This is a 5 minute drive from the church and has plenty of free parking available. Malcolm's life was filled with love, laughter, and countless beautiful moments and we hope this will be an opportunity to join as family and friends to share some of these happy memories together.

If you do intend to join us on the 11th February we would be really grateful if you could let us know as soon as possible by confirming your attendance using the tab below. If you have any specific dietary requirements then please let us know using the email below so that we can accommodate you.

We really hope that you will be able to join us in person, but appreciate that for some this may not be possible. Regrettably we will not be able to offer a live stream, but we do intend to record the service and will then make this available shortly after the event for those that wish to receive it.

We would request that in lieu of flowers, a donation is made to a charity close to both Anna and Malcolm's heart; Open Doors. A Just Giving page has been set up in honour of Malcolm, and this can be accessed using the link on this page.

It would also be lovely if you are able to add any special photographs of Malcolm and can share your memories of him using the tabs below.

If you have any questions, need further information, or would appreciate a link to the video once it is available, please do not hesitate to reach out to us on mr.ianwood@gmail.com

Your prayers, support and kind words have really helped us as a family during this very difficult time.

With heartfelt gratitude and much love,

The Wood Family

I’m so sorry not to be able to join you for the funeral and thanksgiving today, but am thinking of you and praying that the Lord’s precious presence, love and comfort will be with you, now and in all the days ahead.

Malcolm was such a delightful, gentle, kind man. A real example of Christ. He will be hugely missed.

We had the privilege of knowing Malcolm and Anna and being co-workers with them for over 30 years with Ellel. Malcolm was a quiet, kind, compassionate, unassuming man, not seeking the limelight for himself but nevertheless working selflessly in the background to provide and maintain the physical and spiritual environment that enabled many individuals to deepen their relationship with God and receive healing and restoration from their pain and suffering.
We give thanks for his life in the sure hope that he will have been welcomed into eternity with the words ‘Well done good and faithful servant…enter into the joy of the Lord.’ (Matthew25:21)

We've known Malcolm for 24 years now and we'll always treasure the time we spent with Malcolm and Anna in Scotland where they welcomed us into the team back in early 2002.
Malcolm was an unassuming quiet English gentleman, behind the scenes a solid rock who could put his hand to many things be it leading worship always very sensitively, doing the finances, sorting out the wiring under desks, washing the dishes, shovelling snow and much more.
He never liked being up front but he was very capable of doing it be it leading Communion, sharing with leaders, and a highlight for us was how he used to lead the Christmas Carol service for the locals each Christmas he was excellent at sharing the gospel in a variety of novel ways always appreciated by all who came.
We were so privileged and blessed to spend 13 years with Malcolm and Anna in Scotland and learned much from them as we served alongside them all those years. In that time we got to know many facets of Malcolm a man of much wisdom and gentleness who always had a listening ear.
We didn't get too many hot days in Scotland but even when we did Malcolm always arrived with his tie on and how he laughed when one year someone bought him a musical tie as his secret Santa gift and he wore it a few times too.
We were so glad when last August he travelled across to our new home for a visit and spent several lovely days with us sharing about Anna and days past such precious memories.
We shall miss him very much he was a very special part of our lives.
