In loving memory of Marianne 'Margy' Marguerite Gloster who sadly passed away on 5th January 2026
This has been set up for Marianne which includes the funeral details and an area where you can pay your condolences and leave memories.

Please use the Attendance tab on the obituary to let us know if you are able to attend the funeral.

While we know black is traditional, for Marianne’s funeral we’d love people to wear lighter or brighter colours to reflect her personality and the joy she brought us.

Thank you
Lots of love
Jane , Michelle and Howard

Marianne was a lovely lady who always had a zest for life and lived it to the full. She always had a smile and a twinkle in her eye and though she will be very sadly missed by all who knew and loved her, the many wonderful memories we have of her will live on forever in our hearts.

Marianne was full of energy, playful and energetic. I loved her enthusiasm in encouraging us to perform shows and have fun. The sweets, jokes and comfort will be missed and cherished forever. I always had trouble working out who was the mum and who was the daughter (sorry about that Jane). Rest in peace Marianne.

Marrianne will be greatly missed, she always welcomed me with a lovely warm smile, and made everyone she met feel special. Her fast wit and amused expressions let you know see could see straight through any stories people told. When Jane and Marriane had a housewarming party in Astley Abbots I spent some time talking to her next door neighbour. When I left while later the neighbour told Marianne and Jane that he knew the owner of Hootys, my company , who Jane work for, as fast as a flash Marianne said, well I hope so you’ve just been talking to him for an hour. Brilliant. I will miss her very much.

My auntie Marianne who has been part of my life in excess of 70 years. She certainly was influential in very many matters. She was a woman who had a great sence of humour but never beat me at tennis. Marianne on a summer's day would pass a young five years old over the fence a glass of orange/lemonade with ice in it as she had a fridge. This was gratefully received with two chocolate biscuits. I can remember Marianne and Jack bringing their new born daughter Jane back from the hospital to Cedar Hall Gardens with pride and absolute joy. Certainly there was also great excitement in the Legge bungalow next door. Many times over many years there was a lot of laughter and fun and also entertainment when we played games together, particularly at Chrismas time.

Looking back over years I remember Marianne as funloving sporty person
enjoying swimming and on one occation she jumped into the pool at Southend (where Gentings casino is now) and lost the top half of her bikini much to
the delight of the males at the Lido. The afternoon when next door's dog Suki bit Marianne's bottom when I was present gave her a shock but being the type of woman she was, she soon saw the funny side.

Whilst there are a number of other matters I could mention, I would mention that Marianne was my shoulder to cry on and helped me during a very traumatic time of my life.

Marianne will certainly be missed by those who loved and knew her.

A very special lady and I will miss her big time.

Howard xxxxx

I was lucky enough to meet Marianne in the 1990’s when Jane and I were hard working veterinary assistants at Woodham Halt Vets!
I spent many happy hours at Rectory Road, chatting and laughing and recalling all our hilarious work antics in the beautiful gardens there. Time would fly by but always such fun.
What a pleasure being in Marianne’s company was, she radiated genuine warmth, love, mischievousness and possessed a huge zest for life. You could talk to her about anything and everything.
I will always smile when I think of her, especially the last time I visited her last year, it was late morning and M in her nineties was running around in her knickers as she hadn’t got dressed yet, that was her, a free spirit who lived life to the full, what a life well lived. Love you Marianne xxx

I still can’t quite believe Marianne’s really gone. Part of me almost thought she’d be around forever — especially when she was still backflipping into swimming pools well in to her seventies! Being with Marianne and Jane was always full of fun and mischief. I’ll always treasure the memories of visiting their house in Bridgnorth - exploring their garden and local church, her teaching me The Highwayman poem, playing games, her breakfasts of cake, and her love of hula hoops! I feel lucky to have known her, and she’ll be so missed but I’ll treasure all of the wonderful memories xxx

Marianne was part of a generation that seemingly are made of granite and just go on and on with a zest for ever lasting life

Live every moment as it it was your last

She always had a sparkle in her eye and up for a bit of mischief although i do remember fondly her annoyed face when we visit Rectory with a very young Josh who was left loose in the lovely garden and preceded to throw her treasured garden gnomes into the pond !!

Cindy still has nightmares about the visit

Rest in peace Marianne and your memory will always burn bright

Marianne was a second mum to me growing up. She drove me and Jane to wherever we wanted to go and was often picking us up from Southend night clubs in the early hours of the morning.
She was a glamorous, stylish lady who was a fantastic mum and really fun to be around and I will miss her loads. Marianne, I know you will always be looking out for your loved ones from wherever you are and they will never forget you. Rest in peace lovely lady xx
