The Goddard Family is deeply saddened to hear of dear Roger's passing. I had the privilege of meeting both Roger and Molly -- my Godparents -- on Salt Sprint Island, British Columbia, Canada, about 15 or so years ago, along with my Mom (Pamela Goddard née Justice) and Dad (David Goddard). We shared many laughs and created many new memories on our short BC adventure together. My Mom, Dad and I were so thrilled to see Roger and Molly, who was Mom's best friend, from their University of London days, when they both lived in a hostel on Holdford Road near Hampstead Heath. I feel blessed to have met and got to know Roger (and his superb sense of humour! ), and lovely Molly as well. I still have my New Testament from Roger & Molly, which they gave to my parents for me when I was born in 1968. I will continue to treasure that Bible, along with Roger's memory. I know my Mom (Pam) will help welcome Roger into Heaven with open arms, along with others there whom loved Roger and were loved by him. Sincerest heartfelt condolences from the entire Goddard family in Canada. We wish Molly, Andrew, Elliot and Ralph and family peace and comfort at this saddest of times. You are all in our prayers. -With love and warmest regards, Paul Goddard and all the Goddards in Canada. XOX

We have many fond memories of Roger at Middleton. He was always attentive to detail and his knowledge of his parishes was extraordinary. His sermons were considered and delivered with humour. He was the perfect parish priest and for that we are gratwful. Thoughts and prayers with his family at this time.

Roger and Molly's friendship with our parents started in the 60s in Leeds and lasted throughout their lives. We remember visiting Metfield many times as children and seeing the Smith family at many important family events. We remember in particular the wise and loving address that Roger gave at our father's committal in 2015. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

Canon Roger was a wonderful person and we were honored to have him as our Rector in Middleton. For us especially at his early 8.00am services.

We knew Canon Roger when he was in Middleton and so very much appreciated his ministry. Especially at the 8.00am services - even if we might be the only congregation at that early service. We send our best wishes to the family at this so sad time.

So grateful for Roger's assistance in The Saints Benefice during my incumbency there. He was always ready to fill gaps in the Sunday Service rotas and to officiate at Occasional Offices when I was unavailable. He was wise and helpful to me in my ministry as well, and I'm grateful to have known him.
