In loving memory of Zeta Nanette Scardifield who sadly passed away on 8th December 2025.

Zeta was born in Bury, Lancashire. Her mother was Rene Scardifield and father Gilbert Scardifield, she had two brothers, Michael (older) and Ted (younger) as an early job she helped her mother Rene with nursing.

Zeta moved around a few times and most notably lived in Salt Dean, Selsey and Portsmouth for a while working as a Hairdresser in Rottingdean before coming down south to Worthing to become a homemaker for her upcoming child Michael.

She met Ian McFarlane Stone Mason and Stained Glass artist, who was father of Stuart and Minette in 1978, some time passed upon which they became a couple in 1986.

Michael McFarlane Scardifield was born in 1987 which changed her life for the better, Zeta said it saved her life after suffering great loss in the family and gave her something to live for.

She enjoyed shopping, collecting clothing, handbags, shoes and jewelery. She liked travelling in her earlier years, one of her favourite trips was to Australia to visit her brother Ted.

Zeta was selfless, strong, thoughtful, loving and always putting others first, a true warrior, fighting through the pains and struggles she had faced in her life.

Zeta was my sister-in-law now reunited with her brothers Michael & Ted, mother Rene and grandmother Ruby.

Zeta told me that she was named after one of Rene’s nursing colleagues & her middle name Nanette from the musical, No No Nanette.

She was delivered at home by her grandmother & was the first girl in the Scardifield line for a very long time. Her elder brother Mike was 3 years old when she arrived. Growing up together he was very quiet one and while Zeta was small she was a fighter & used to scratch & kick. Mick was patient with her & never hit back but the neighbours thought they must have a cat because he always had scratchs!

Her baby brother Ted arrived in 1952 and he emigrated to Australia as a £10 Pom in 1972. We were married in 1980 and Zeta & Rene visited us in 1981 and she came out again with her friend Anne a year later. The biggest thrill of her life was the birth of her son Michael.

We will remember her zany sense of humour, her care for others & her love of op shops & finding treasures. Rest in peace dearest Zet.
