You weren’t blood, but you were family. Nan, From the moment you wrapped me in your embrace, you filled a space in my heart I didn’t even know was empty. You became my grandmother, my guide, my safe place to land—and I wouldn’t have changed a single second of that for the world.
You helped me though so much the last couple of years, myself and children are lost without you every time the door goes or my phone goes off, I wish it was you.

Our thoughts and love go out to the rest of the family.

We didn't just get a neighbour we got a Nan too we love and miss you so much Steph, Jack, Che and Rhema xx

Dear Jackie, so sorry to hear of the sad news. My condolences to your son (whom I have yet to meet) and the other members of your family. Your friends, including myself, who knew you from our oft-shared walks in Gillingham Park, will miss you tremendously. You were a fine and lovely lady.

Jackie, you were the only person I have ever known, who confirmed emphatically, without hesitation, that the crater surrounded by trees on the second part of the Darland Banks was caused by a Doodle Bug, the knowledge of which I'd grown up with from early childhood, from an unknown source. "Yes it was!" you replied, when I asked you. This impressed me very much.

You amused us greatly with your tale of how you had invited a Police motorcyclist to sit alongside you in your car, rather than he continue to be soaked in the pouring rain, when he had stopped you for speeding, intending to give you a ticket. The Fast Lady! You got away with it on that occasion, no doubt with your charm, ha ha. You told us, with a twinkle in your eye, that, in those days, you were "rather well-endowed", so that likely helped as well! All good fun.

May the Good Lord recompense, in His own special way, the unidentified criminal on the e-scooter who startled you in Gillingham Park last year, causing you to fall and suffer a spinal injury, which you could well have done without! To quote an old saying frequently used by my late mother, "The Lord repays debts without money." God grant that this be so in this case! Although we haven't yet been able to win the fight against such irresponsible and uncaring people as these within your lifetime, the battle shall continue, in memory of you, dearest Jackie. You won't be forgotten.

Although I knew you but two years, it has been an unmissable pleasure. Thank you for your terrific sense of humour, for your wisdom, for your first-class listening-ear, and for being my friend. God bless you, dear Jackie! I shall always remember you with a smile on my face, and shall hope, with confidence in the Good Lord, to see you on that glorious Other Side - and may not be that far behind you - who can tell?
