My enduring memory of my dad will be his visit to New Zealand in 2018 when he was 88.
When I asked him, " Dad, have you been on an aeroplane before?" "Yes" he relied, "to Germany". He was talking about on a propellor plane during his days of national service. "Jeez, you're in for a surprise then with 18 hours in a tin can crammed in with 400 others then aren't ya!" But, he managed it okay and i will always remember the first thing he wanted after landing in Nelson NZ after about 36 hours flying round the world was a pint! Good on ya Dad, you were an inspiration to me and so many of the mates you made in New Zealand. Thank you!
