In memory of my beautiful Mum, Mary x As I always told you you were the best Mum in the world and I consider myself so lucky that you were mine. Even when Alzheimer’s took away a lot of the person you had been you still remained wonderful and loving. I love you to the moon and back now and always. Rest in peace my lovely Mum XXX

Andy Tubbs is attending the funeral

When I first took over as Chairman of the Arts & Crafts Society in 2012, Mary very quickly became my right-hand man. She had been a hard working member of the committee for a long time as well as a former chairman herself. Mary knew everybody and guided me through the established ways of doing things. She was a brilliant organiser and always did things with a smile and a sense of purpose. When it came to the Annual Exhibition each year, Mary really came into her own. Her teaching background came to the fore and she arranged the exhibition entries and the duty rota - not an easy task by any means! She also put a lot of effort into collecting donations of raffle prizes from the local business community. Her powers of persuasion were second to none! Mary also helped me organise an annual quiz for the society and took great pleasure in managing the scoring. What a star she was. Always helpful and dependable. I know she was very fearful of her memory going, but when that time sadly came along, she handled it with great dignity. Mary is sadly missed by many members of the society but always fondly remembered.
