UPDATE 4th DEC 2025
Thank You for Honouring Gary Francis Hill
On behalf of our family, I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who joined us yesterday to celebrate the life of my beloved husband Gaz.
Your presence, your warmth, and the sheer number of people who came together was a true reflection of the extraordinary man Gary was.
Seeing so many of you gathered to honour him—friends from childhood, Golfers, cricketers, footballers, colleagues, teammates, neighbours, and loved ones—was both humbling and profoundly comforting. It reminded us that Gary’s light shone far beyond our home, and that his legacy lives on in the memories and hearts of all who knew him.
As a loving brother to Kevin, proud father to Ryan, Luke, Emily, and Charlie, and a joyful Grandad to Isaac, Gary’s greatest treasure was always his family. But yesterday showed us that his family extended much further—into the community, into friendships forged over decades, and into the lives he brightened simply by being himself.
Losing him leaves a space that can never be replaced, but the love and support shown by all of you helps us carry that weight with courage.
Thank you for standing with us, for sharing your stories, and for helping us honour Gary yesterday in the way he deserved. His spirit will live on in every smile, every game of football or round of golf, and every moment of joy we hold onto in his memory. Please do not forget to be part of The Gary Hill Legacy Cup and pass the word. QR Code has been added to photos.
With love and gratitude,
Michelle and family
In loving memory of Gary Francis Hill, who passed away on 30th October 2025, aged 63.
Gary was born in Petham, Canterbury on 10th October 1962, the youngest child of Richard and Jane, and beloved little brother to Susan and Kevin. From an early age, his remarkable talent for sport shone brightly. Whether on the football pitch, the cricket field, or later on the golf course, Gary’s natural ability, determination and competitive spirit made him a force to be admired and cherished.
Beginning with his first job at Debenhams in Canterbury and continuing through his many years working in Building Repairs and Insurance Claims, Gary’s wit, warmth, and unmistakable charisma earned him an extraordinary network of lifelong friends. His presence lit up every room, every workplace, every team he joined.
A devoted supporter of West Ham F.C., Gary’s passion for football was matched only by his deep love for his family. He was a dedicated and proud father to Ryan, Luke, Emily, and Charlie, and later a doting and joyful Grandad to Isaac. His family was his greatest treasure, and he lived his life with them at the very centre of his heart.
Our 34 years of marriage have been filled with love, laughter, joy, and more memories than could ever be counted. Words fall short of describing how much our beloved “Gaz” will be missed. There is a space in our lives now that nothing and no one can ever replace.
We warmly invite you to join us in honouring Gary’s life on Wednesday 3rd December at 11:00am at Barham Crematorium, Canterbury Road, Canterbury, CT4 6QU. Afterwards, we welcome you to gather with us at Hawkinge Community Centre, Heron Forstal Avenue, Hawkinge, Kent, CT18 7FP.
No specific dress code, although Gaz would possibly ban football shirts that did not support West Ham just to annoy everyone!
No flowers please-you can donate on this site to The British Heart Foundation, or on the day the funeral directors will accept cash donations which will go to ASH Action on Smoking and Health UK.
Michelle
