In loving memory of John Miller who sadly passed away on 27th October 2025
John Desmond Miller was born in Southampton on the 4th July 1949 to Cyril Kenneth Miller and Barbara Marion Miller (nee Beattie).
He grew up in the Thornhill and Bassett areas.
After leaving education at 15 he served his apprenticeship as a Carpenter and Joiner. He worked his way to a lengthy and successful career in house building, winning multiple awards as Senior Site Manager before his retirement in 2019 aged 70.
A lifelong Saints FC fan, he also enjoyed Speedway and Rugby along with most sports.
John enjoyed many aspects of life, being particularly passionate about history, theatre and music, especially English folk which he sang regularly and with fine voice.
A member of King John's Morris Men for almost 50 years, travelling the world and the UK with the side, he will be fondly remembered for his energetic dance, Mummers plays as various characters and ever enthusiastic singing. He served as Squire and Bagman several times.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda, and his two daughters Kirsty and Sarah, and grandchildren Jack, Rebecca and Hannah, who gave him so much joy.
