Christopher John Miller, known universally as John, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the age of 81. He was the beloved husband of Mary, his wife of 58 years.

Born in Redruth and raised in Cornwall, John graduated from Durham University and took articles, then spent his professional life working as a Chartered Accountant in industry. He was known for his dedication, thoroughness, and attention to detail by his work colleagues and friends.

His great love, from the age of eight, was sailing. He found deep contentment and a quiet sense of freedom on the water, a passion he carried throughout his life.

John’s life was defined by the unwavering strength of his character: he was profoundly kind, generous, and humble. He possessed a quiet, gentle patience that was evident in his deep love and care for his family and friends.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary; his children, Michael and Will; his 3 grandchildren, and his wider family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at Test Valley Crematorium on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 11:00 am. Family flowers only, please. Donations in John’s memory may be made to Save the Children

In memory of John, my warm and wonderful brother-in-law whose strength and determination shone through whatever the circumstances. Whatever he did, he did well - within the family, at work, or on the water. Life will not be the same without him.

Such happy memories of the jolly times spent with John and Mary, and a long history of Cornish family friendship. It was a privilege to be at your 'Crossing of the Bar' in Romsey John and hear the glowing family tributes. A life well lived!
