In loving memory of Sharon Spicer who sadly passed away on 20th September 2025
Sharon was a very warm, kind and caring person. She had soo much love to give. She grew up in Romford Essex and sadly lost her farther when she was only 12. She then moved to Norwich in her teenage years with her mother Rita and her brother Stuart. She attended Long Stratton high school and then started her first job as a Saturday girl at British Homes stores at the age of 15. She then left school and started her first full time job at Norwich Union at the age of 16 which she then stayed until 1993. She married at the age of 18 in 1977 to her husband Dennis, they then bought their first house in Hempnall Norfolk.
In April 1982 her and Dennis bought a building plot in Tasburgh Norfolk and purchased a static caravan which they lived in for 2 years whilst her and Dennis them selves built Squirrels ridge (a large 4 bedroom home) where she later started a family. In 1984 her and Dennis found a passion for sailing, purchasing their first boat and trailering it up to lake Windermere for sailing holidays. She made good friends with her Neigbour’s Val & Jim and introduced them to sailing which lead to them all having lots of fun together on sailing trips. In 1986 they then decided to purchase a larger boat that they could sleep on and named it Impulse. They then had many adventures with this boat including trailering it by car over to then called Yugoslavia (Croatia) and had an amazing trip lasting 1 month exploring islands, bays and beaches. Sharon had a passion for horse riding and she loved her animals, she would always be helping out at stables and riding horses on the Norfolk beaches.
Starting a family, on the 3-12-1988 Sharon gave Birth to her first son Christopher, sadly still born. She and Dennis was devastated and traumatised by this as anyone would be, but Amazingly this did not put them off, going on to have 2 more children. Sharon gave birth to Robbie on the 28-03-1991 and then Steven on the 24-12-1995. She was an amazing mother to her two boys raising them in the family home at Tasburgh. They had a wonderful upbringing Sharon & Dennis had since purchased a slightly larger boat named Bobbin, which they purchased in Plymouth in summer 1990 and sailed it back to the Norfolk broads in a week. They had lots of fun holidays on Bobbin to Lake Windermere and Dartmouth Devon introducing Robbie & Steven to sailing.
In 1991 Sharon took part in a charity fundraiser swim and raised nearly a thousand pounds for charity. She was big into raising money for charity and was always looking for ways to raise money where she could especially for children’s hospices and animal welfare.
Sharon Left Norwich union in 1992 and started a part time waitress job at Dunston hall. Then went on to create her own catering business Squirrels Ridge Catering service, making birthday, anniversary and christening cakes. She would also produce buffet food for large parties along with patisserie items.
In 1996 Sharon, Dennis, the 2 boys and Dennis’s father Harry drove to southern Brittany to purchase a much larger 28 foot boat Summer Breeze. They then sailed it back on a 3 week trip round the coast of France and via Channel Islands. On route they saw dolphins swimming under the boat and dancing in the waves. They then crossed the channel over to Dartmouth where they moored and kept the boat for many years whilst still having sailing holiday trips to France, Channel Islands, Cornwall and all around Devon. Exploring beaches, bays and little harbours.
In circa 2005 Sharon started another full time job at Norwich law courts where she stayed until circa 2010. They then discovered skiing in the French alps where they then spent many winter holidays exploring the alps.
In October 2010 Sharon sadly lost her mother Rita which was a massive loss to her and the family as she was very close to her mum. She went on to do a cleaning Job for Tasburgh Preston primary school for many years and then started at the Sugar beat eating house Swainsthorpe when it opened in 2014 as a Chamber maid.
In 2018 sadly Sharon and Dennis divorced and Sharon moved in with her brother Stuart in Poringland. She then purchased her new home on Summer close Framingham Earl in 2020 where she lived with her pet Willow (a German pointer). She took on Summer Breeze as part of the divorce settlement and her and Dennis moved the boat sailing it from Dartmouth round to Ipswich in 2020 again seeing Dolphins on the trip round. The boat then stayed in Ipswich until present. She enjoyed staying on her boat with her friends and Robbie, Steven and Stuart and went on many trips on the rivers around Ipswich. She loved little trips to Whitby and Yorkshire staying in little holiday cottages with her friends and Willow. She enjoyed camping trips in her brothers camper van exploring the Yorkshire dales, the lake district and many more.
In 2018 her son Robbie married and she became a mother in law to her daughter in law Danniella. She became close to Danniella and went on little spa break trips and on holidays to Cyprus and many dog walks.
In 2021 Sharon became a grand parent to her first grand child Sebastian born 2-11-2021 and then her second grand child came along in 2023 Francesca born 14-12-2023. She cherished her 2 grand children and she was given the nickname name Nanny Shaz. She sadly lost her dog Willow in 2021 which caused her much sadness. She then got her RSPCA rescue dog Lucy loo in 2022 which gave Sharon her sparkle back. Sharon and Lucy loo went on to have many little excursions and dog walks with her friends on the beaches and woodlands.
Sharon was very big into her art work and produced so many nice pieces of art. Her art work would range from pastel to water colour and sketch work. She was very talented and there will be pieces of her art work and the portfolio of cakes she made over the years will be on display at her wake.
Sharon was always big into raising money for charity and her favourite charity was Each (East Anglian Children's Hospice) which she had actually started to apply to do volunteer work for just before she died.
Sharon was an incredible Mum, Nanny, Wife, Daughter, Sister and friend and she will always be remembered for her warm and kind hearted nature, her love for animals, sailing, skiing, art work and her charity work.
She will be hugely missed by her family and friends.
We all love you Sharon, rest in peace. xxxxxx
