In loving memory of Anthony Lowry who sadly passed away on 19th August 2025.

Jean’s marvellous Husband and my wonderful Dad, sadly passed away on 19 August 2025. The loss we, as a family, feel is heightened by the inadequate treatment and care he received whilst at the QMC which led to his death.

Tony was loving, generous, helpful, supportive, and just an all-round wonderful man. Jean is devastated beyond words at the loss of her husband of 59 years. They had known each other since they were 13 years old, so the chasm that has been left by his passing, is bottomless. She has, however, many beautiful memories that hopefully, in time, will fill the void with love and peace.

I’m so blessed that Tony is my Dad. When I was a child he could be strict but always fair. As I became an adult he was my go-to financial advisor, diy expert, gardening guru, Dad-encyclopaedia, full of knowledge and words of wisdom, always available at the end of the phone and more recently WhatsApp video call. Welcome to the 21st century Dad!

Tony was a keen birdwatcher/twitcher and travelled far and wide in pursuit of adding another sighting to his yearly total. Scotland, Wales, Yorkshire and Dungeness were regularly visited with the occasional trip to far-flung destinations like Costa Rica and India.

Tony was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2018, treatment followed and he went into remission. Sadly, it returned in 2023 but, again, treatment was successfully keeping it at bay. However, the cancer treatment put strain on his heart and he had a heart attack and 2 cardiac arrests in 2018 and he was diagnosed with heart failure.

Instead of flowers Tony’s wishes were for donations to be made to Prostate Cancer UK to help support their vital work. Jean and I have also added British Heart Foundation and RSPB as two of Tony’s other charities that he supported.

Thank you so very much.

Jean & Samantha
Alexander & Dominic (Tony’s grandsons)

My dear brother Tony. I still cannot believe you are gone.
I will miss our chats, but so pleased we managed to speak when you were in hospital. I am sorry you had such a rough time in there.
Thinking of when we were young, and You and Mick(of course ) used to take us out for day long treks, Colwick Woods, the Fosse Way to Grandmas and Grandads farm , with a bottle of water and jam sandwiches.
The two of you, getting on the Hucknall bus home from school, caps at the back of your heads and a big quiff of hair at the front.
We will keep you in our hearts forever.

Tony was not just my brother, he was my twin brother. His passing has left me with the feeling that part of me is now missing. We were identical twins and two sides of the same coin. We had many similarities and many differences such as:-
I joined the navy
He joined the army

I played football
He played rugby

I favoured Forest
He favoured County

But one thing we did share for sure was the love for our families and the desire to continue our heritage for many more generations.
