Norman will be greatly missed. Mikey was very fond of him--they had been good friends for decades since meeting in Africa, and later returned to the continent together on an adventurous "old banger rally". The two stayed in touch, discussing all sorts including Norman's expertise: meteorological phenomena. Mikey was always keen to call in with Norman and Janet in Norwich on epic cross-country drives.

Shortly before Jessica went to work in Afghanistan, Norman recounted how, when driving through the country decades ago (not for the faint of heart!) he was stuck in Herat for days waiting for his car to be repaired. Few people today will experience such adventures!

Many years ago we visited Norman in Borneo, where he bought a box of cream cakes for everyone - we still remember that generous treat!

So sorry for your loss,

Jessica, Julia, Nick and Breffni
