In loving memory of my lovely dad, Peter Smyth, who sadly passed away on 25th September 2025.

Thank you for sharing so many supportive and wonderful memories of dad: the shock and sadness is on-going, but lessened ever so slightly by the messages I've received and the outpouring of love.

Dad was passionate about raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer's research, following my lovely mum's diagnosis last year. This is cruel condition, and we struggled to come to terms with it, but as always dad wanted to help make things better. We'd appreciate donations in his name rather than flowers, unless you feel compelled to.

I'd love dad's farewell to be a happy time, albeit very emotional. Please feel free to share stories, laughs and memories and I hope he will see how many people loved him.

Thanks again for all of your support.

Emma, Chris and family xxx

Oh Peter I still can’t believe that you’re gone. Such a huge loss for your family and friends.

You were such a kind warm man. You gave Kyle the best years when you were his 1:2:1. You saw him as Kyle a cracking young man, you never saw his disabilities.
When you spoke at Kyles funeral your words touched us all. Every year after we lost him you always popped to my mums with flowers for her, you never forgot.
I had the pleasure of working for you at The Den for a good 5 years or so and we had so many giggles, you me and Shari. Dressing up The Den for Halloween and Christmas and you never grasping the less is more thing 😂. You dressing up as Santa for the Christmas party was always a laugh. I’ve also never known anyone else that can drink so many cups of tea in a day!!
You had such an interesting well travelled life and I loved listening to your stories, all about your holidays and where you was off to next.
I’ll never forget you nor will I forget all you did for Kyle and Sally over the years. Rest in peace Peter.
Love to Christine, Emma, Owen, Bobby and Tilly.xxxx

  • I found the eulogy dad read at Kyle's funeral yesterday. Couldn't bring myself to read it yet, but I will do one day. xx

Peter was a really kind, gentle man. My Emma loved him, the care he gave her was outstanding. Sadly she passed away nearly 13 years ago, but since then on Emma’s birthday and the anniversary of her death Peter came to see us with a beautiful bunch of flowers- he never forgot! Geoff and I are so grateful that he was in Emma’s, and ours, life. We would like to pass on our sincerest condolences to Peter’s family. He truly was one of the good ones!!

We have known Peter, Chris & Emma for many years, I worked locally with Chris & Dave used to MOT, service and repair their cars. As we lived close-by, as a surprise for Chris's 50th Birthday Peter had brought her a new Nissan Micra and he asked if he could 'hide' it in our garage overnight (full of balloons!!) and deliver it to them the next day - Dave even wore his chauffer's hat!! What a day to remember!! Pete thought of everything!!
Rest in Peace Pete and sending love to you - Emma, Chris & family xxx

Peter was the most kindest caring man. He would help anyone he could. It was a pleasure to work with Peter. He treated you as an equal.
He was the only person I knew who went to the dentist had a tooth out and come straight back and had a cup of tea. Rest in eternal peace dear Peter.
