In Loving Memory of Stephen Pickering - 9th September 2025

Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page in memory of Stephen Pickering. We are asking for donations in lieu of flowers to support the incredible work of John Eastwood Hospice, whose care and compassion meant the world to Stephen and our family in his final days.

Over the last five years, Stephen battled and overcame prostate cancer, but sadly the disease spread and in the last few months he was diagnosed terminal. Despite his strength and determination, this was one fight he could not win and he sadly passed away peacefully on Tuesday 9th September 2025.

During his final week, Stephen was cared for by the team at John Eastwood Hospice. Their support, kindness, compassion and dignity made an immeasurable difference during an incredibly difficult time. We are forever grateful. In honour of Stephen’s memory, and in recognition of the hospice’s vital work, we kindly ask for donations to this wonderful charity instead of flowers.

Thank you for taking the time to read Stephen’s story and for donating in his memory. Your support helps others receive the same compassionate care Stephen did.

Will miss you so much Steve.

You always had the best ideas, stories, and jokes; you were ahead of the curve in almost everything going on in the world and beyond. You had the first computers, you programmed the first games, you wrote books, you found out about aliens taking over the earth, you were basically twitter 3.0 before they even invented the thing. You were social media - if anything was happening anywhere in the world or at the pub, you were on it.

Will miss all the great conversations we had and your inspiration, the jokes, every interaction was one where i went home with lockjaw from laughing so much. I carried your teachings and inspirations like a torch throughout my life, you inspired me, as you probably are now inspiring the angels.

All my Love, Nephew Jason.

P.S Hope you and Dad are living it large up there together.

I have so many amusing memories of my uncle Steve who, as we all know so well, could really spin a yarn and turn any event into an amusing anecdote. His zest for life and his infectious sense of humour always brightened any occasion.
Steve, you were a one in a million man who will be fondly remembered by those of us who had the honour and privilege to have been a part of your life.
RIP Uncle Steve
