In loving memory of Robert 'Bill' Taylor who sadly passed away on 17th August 2025 aged 85 years.

He was a kind, gentle, and understanding man who touched many lives with his warmth and quiet strength.

He loved nature, especially birds. Watching them brought him peace, and he taught us to appreciate the small, beautiful things in life.

Dad was also a keen walker. He loved being outdoors, and he shared that passion with us, his grandchildren, and many others—often leading guided hikes with quiet enthusiasm and a steady pace. One of the last meaningful walks we did together as a family was for his 80th birthday, in the mountains of Snowdonia. It was a day filled with laughter, fresh air, and the kind of peace that only comes from being surrounded by nature and family. That walk will stay with us forever.

He was a wonderful father. He taught us how to be independent, how to care for others, and how to stand on our own two feet. He loved to cook and bake—his ginger cake, made from a treasured family recipe, was legendary in our home when growing up. That cake wasn’t just delicious—it was a symbol of comfort, tradition, and the love he poured into everything he did. In his final moments, that ginger cake was remembered with him, a quiet reminder of the life he lived and the joy he gave.

He gave his time to others—doing charity work in Northampton, where he even met Princess Anne at the opening an educational centre he helped support. He never made a fuss about it, but we know it meant a lot to him and he made life long friend in the ‘wrinklies’ from these acts of kindness.

Dad knew deep love—and deep loss. His first wife, Jenny, was the love of his life, and her passing at just 46 was a heartbreak he carried quietly for the rest of his days. She was a vibrant, caring woman, and together they built a home full of warmth, laughter, and strong values. Her memory stayed close to him, and shaped the way he continued to live—with compassion, resilience, and grace.

Later in life, Dad found companionship again with Pat, and they shared peaceful years together. Pat passed away shortly before Dad, after facing the challenges of Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Dad himself faced Alzheimer’s in his final years. He spent the final months of his life in a care home, where he was treated with compassion and dignity. We’re so grateful to the staff who cared for him and helped him stay comfortable and safe.

Dad wasn’t someone who found it easy to express his emotions. He didn’t always say the words—but we always knew. In the way he showed up, in the things he did, in the quiet support he gave—his love was always there. Steady, strong, and deeply felt.

We will miss him deeply. But we’ll remember him in the quiet moments—in the trees, in the birds, in the smell of ginger cake, and on the paths he loved to walk.

Bill will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
