In loving memory of Ian Whitley who sadly passed away on 5th September 2025

Ian passed away peacefully on September 5th, 2025, aged 86, surrounded by family.

Born in Hornchurch in 1939, Ian lived a full and varied life—beginning with a wartime evacuation as a child, and later enjoying a successful career that culminated in his early retirement as a Senior Bank Manager at Lloyds Bank.

He was a devoted husband to his wife, Jean, of 61 years, a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a man of endless creativity and humour. From building boats and motorhomes and crafting magical childhoods, Ian brought joy and ingenuity to everything he did.

He was also a dedicated volunteer, including at the 2012 London Olympics, and served with pride in the Round Table and Freemasons.

Ian faced his later health challenges with courage, humour, and quiet strength. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless wonderful memories.

He was deeply loved—and will be deeply missed

With love and happy memories. I’ll always remember the model railway that ran through your garden and the party you hosted for mum and dad’s ruby wedding.
