I couldn’t have asked for better Grandparents for Hayley than Win & Wally and they are back together again. Win was endlessly patient with Hayley particularly in the very slow walk from Westcott to Dorking for Hayley’s little legs…
The lovely holidays to places likeThe Lakes and Cornwall where they came up with an endless list of activities all accompanied with a packed lunch including thermos of tea diligently prepared by Win.
Always a card would arrive not only for Hayley’s and Florence’s birthday and Christmas but Easter as well, I know Hayley will miss those little things.

I hope Florence and Frankie have such love and fond memories of me as a Grandmother as Hayley does of Win then I will consider myself very fortunate indeed.

Sending love to Sarah, Di and family from our family both here in Australia and Yorkshire

  • Thanks for those lovely words Kath. Hayley and the kids meant everything to mum and their latest visit was her last real memory - something special for all of us.

Fond memories of Win from my childhood. If we wasn’t at grandma’s house we was at Win & Wally’s house, being out in their garden trying to race Sarah’s dog Aggy up and down the alley on the side of their house 🤣. Every year since I was born she would send me £5 for my birthday and Christmas and even into my adult life every Christmas and birthday a card would come through the letterbox from her. She never forgot me lol.
I hadn’t seen her since my dad passed in 2013 but I will always treasure the memories I have of her from my childhood.
Rest in peace Win xx

  • Thank you Yasmin, that is a beautiful message and lovely that you have such good memories. Mum never forgot you and your family and was very upset when she didn't have your new address to keep in touch. Keep well and with kind regards, Sarah

Win was a nice neighbour; When I was young, I remember her chatting to my mother on many an occasion. When it rained, we use to bring in each other’s our washing and several times I was asked to help find the runaway tortoise, one thing that stands out was the lovely smells of cooking and washing powder coming from the house.
Then in later years I would popped in to see Win and have a chat about Westcott. God best you Win.

Dear Auntie Win, so many happy memories, where to start? The lovely times shared with you and Uncle Wol at the bungalow in Betchworth with Steven, Rosie and Molly. How they loved coming to visit you and play with the farm. But most of all I will never forget the way you supported me and Steven when he was only 7 and his other sister, Katy passed away. You and Uncle Wol were so amazing with him, I will never forget how you made my little boy smile that horrible day for the first time in weeks and I will be forever grateful. Rest in peace dear Win, reunited with Wol xxxx

I have many dear memories of Win during the last twenty years of her life. One of them being our banter over our cups of tea !! We both had an agreement that tea should always be strong in colour and served in a tea cup and saucer. I always tried to convince her that keeping the little finger erect as you tipped the cup to drink added a certain 'poshness' while drinking the tea. I don't think I ever won that battle. Win was a lovely lady who always enjoyed hearing news about my family and the antics of the youngsters amongst us. She always enjoyed meeting my mother for the afternoon teas held at the house Epsom Such lovely times Dear Win you are sorely missed Rest in Peace x

  • Thanks Julia Lovely memories and definitely tea served in a cup and saucer - not happy with a mug. It was always lovely seeing our two mums nattering away over a cuppa.

The years may have passed, but I think of Win often. As do Sam and Lauren and my Dad. They have so many special memories that we all still talk about today - the time spent with Win and Wal shaped their childhood and helped make them the lovely adults they are today. May she rest in peace x
