Funeral Director
In loving memory of Jeannette 'Nette' Frances Nicholls who sadly passed away on Tuesday 19th August 2025. A funeral service will be held at Woodlands Crematorium, Scarborough, on Monday 1st September 2025 at 2pm. This will be followed by a reception to celebrate her life at Park Manor Hotel, Scarborough, from 3pm. All of this wishing to pay their respects and celebrate Nette's life are more than welcome to attend.
And what a life it was. Born in Reading, Berkshire on 10th March 1950, Nette would have a happy childhood filled with fun and laughter with her parents, Norman and Florrie, and older sister, Maureen. Like most children her age, Nette would love nothing more than making dens and getting muddy with her sister! Nette would grow up with a love of all things crafty and creative, alongside a flair for cookery and bakery. In Reading, she met her future husband, the late Chas, the love of her life. They would marry in July 1971, and would remain so for over 53 years until Chas' death in September 2024.
In 1976, they would move to Scarborough, North Yorkshire, when Chas took up a new role in the town. They raised a daughter and a son, and, for us children, it was a happy childhood, full of memories, love, and care, that we cherish. Nette loved special occasions and ensuring that the extended family enjoyed every moment. At Christmas, this included preparing her legendary trifles and Christmas cakes! This extended into adulthood for us, and we will take so many fond memories of our Mum going forward. In her spare time, Nette loved not only being creative in the kitchen through her baking, particularly: she also enjoyed crafting and many will remember having received a handmade card from her over the years. Nette also loved to travel and experience new things. Above all though, Nette loved the peace and quiet - she would enjoy her garden, watching nature and wildlife, and when in town, people-watching was also a veritable pastime!!
The majority of her working life was spent at the former Wallis' holiday park, later Cayton Bay, where she would at first supervise the bar in the former Rendez-Vous club before moving to the reception where she would enjoy helping customers with their queries and ensuring that they got the best start to their holidays. Nette enjoyed helping others, and made good friends from her time there.
In all, our Mum, Nette, had a life of love and laughter. She loved her family and friends dearly, and we loved her, and always will. She will be missed, but we take heart from her departure in what was a life well-lived, and that she is now reunited with her husband, Chas, our Dad, in the next life.
