Thank you for being the most wonderful Gramps to us.
You treated me like your own which I will forever be grateful for.
Ethan, Fearne and Emmie miss you so much but have the best memories of you from holidays in Spain, to trips to Hempstead and spending all your money (hehe) and sleepovers with late night goodies.
I hope you're up there with a G&T with Lee putting the world's to rights now. I know he would be so happy to be reunited with you, you were best buds.
We love and miss you everyday.
Love, Helen

Paul, I have known you since I was fifteen. I worked with you and Jeff for 3 years and I remember those years fondly as a young man. I remember we had a Christmas party for the total workforce of Benwal services which was you, Jeff and me. We went to the Beefeater in Gravesend and had a slap up meal and I had the cheek to order a Glenfiddich whiskey as an after dinner drink and I was never forgiven for pushing up the bill. Thanks for your views and advice over the years. I must thank you for your music taste and for you educating me in 50's and 60's music. You gave me so much knowledge on DIY and help us greatly in our various houses over the years. The raised decking in our garden still stands proudly as a testament to your skill in helping build it. Rest in peace and pain free my father in law. Robin

I first met Paul in 1965, when courting Cherry's cousin, Ann. Over following years, we were all very close, moving to Strood in the early 70's. It was then that we decided to set up Benwall Services ( an amalgam of our surnames ) and, for the next 10 years, became the scourge of North West Kent school kitchens' cooking equipment. One funny incident occurred when Cherry was working in a kitchen in Strood, we'd had a meeting at the bank and popped in to see her after. We were both wearing white macs and the ladies thought we were a couple detectives. Caused a bit of panic for a moment. We got our lunch though, as we did in most of the kitchens we visited. Good days. Unfortunately, we only kept in touch sporadically over the last few years but we never missed birthday messages. One last thing, you obviously expect these things to happen when you're older but it really hit home to me a couple of weeks after the news. I was working at home, using an AEG drill which we had both bought in 1975, in Gravesend. When I realised that it knocked me over and I couldn't help shedding a tear. We were a good, no great, team, Paul and I cherish all the memories. Thank you. God rest, safe trails. Jeff.

I am so sad you have left us , I have many fond memories of uncle Paul growing up , but one of the first ones as a child was him making his tooth wiggle and chasing us sending us all running off screaming. I used to call him that funny man and hide from him until I was about 8 years old .
Growing up we had many a good conversation about art , life , fishing off the beech & the family he was a very proud grandad . Oh …and always what was for dinner, he was always studied the menus on the paseo in Spain.
He always used to make me laugh asking when he could come down from factor 50 in the sun and was told , on your homebound journey as you reach the aircraft steps.
You will be very missed by us all sleep tight.
