Steve was a true gentleman with a big heart. He was a brilliant wordsmith who loved to regale us with hysterical stories of incidents he’d experienced that day. He loved to entertain, hosting Murder Mystery Dinners and BBQs. He loved history, joining the Wiltshire Home Guard living history group. As was his way, he embellished the mundane with stories to make it interesting. For the last decade he’s been fighting Parkinson’s Disease. He hated that he could no longer donate blood, write, his speech was getting soft, and he didn’t have the energy he used to have, but he kept battling on doing the things he loved. ‘Oggy’ has left a big hole in all our lives. My soulmate may be gone, but he will be forever in my thoughts and heart, and I have the wonderful memories of 34 years of love and laughter.

Not a day goes by that I don't miss you Oggy. You left so suddenly, I never had time to say goodbye. I'm trying to do what you'd want me to, but it's so hard not having you to bounce ideas off of. Love you forever x

Steve was a wonderful friend and neighbour. He and Maria were some of my mum’s first friends in Swindon. He was kind, approachable, and helpful, and always ready with a listening ear.
He loved sharing his interests with people – how he built his garden, his skills for sabrage, military history. At Christmas he would bring out his Scalextric and the fort from his childhood.
He took every opportunity to be a good host, whether that be BBQs, murder mystery evenings, anniversary parties, or firework displays – when my brother was a teenager he let him help to light them.
He also loved animals of all kind, down to the tadpoles in his pond. He was always eager to help with feeding my guinea pigs or rabbits, even if that help came with a joke about rabbit pie. He once invited us all over to see a bumblebee he was saving,
He was a wonderful husband to Maria, and he supported her through all of life’s ups and downs. It was a privilege to have known him.
He will be missed.
From Ella, on behalf of the March family.
