Mitch Cannon (24 Feb 1966 - 18 Jun 2025)

When you're young the room is full of light from a thousand candles, but as you get older those candles start to go out and the place grows ever darker.

Mitch was always one of the brighter burning candles.

It was only by chance that I found out Mitch had died, having had a sudden urge to look him up in September. The reality has slowly grown and memories of childhood times returned. Otherwise I would've liked to have paid my respects in person.

So here's remembering the attempt to walk on the frozen pond at Berengrave Chalk Pit that went so wrong, Derek's brothers A100, Monkey's sausage, that LC125, the Christmas do at your dad's works, the mopeds that broke down every couple of miles...

Mitch was a brave bloke who was a friend to me when others weren't. Our paths went in different directions, but ultimately we all end up at the same destination.

My condolences to the loved ones he left behind.

Mate only just heard, I got away from Kent and moved up Barnsley to be near grandson and away from the troubles of Kent. You was always pretty good for me, sometimes a bully and done some things to me that were out of order however I know its not the true person yoy was and just where you was at in life and the personal probs we both suffered , peace be with you bro

Happy memories of simpler days gone by, school football teams, scrumping and egg collecting in the orchards at the back of Lonsdale Drive in the late 70’s!

We hope you’re now at peace, you had a heart of gold and were Nanny’s best friend and supported her without hesitation. You’ll forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Words seem trite at times like these. You were my cousin and always will be. Childhood memories of our family times together run through my mind and heart, alongside your visit to Norfolk last year to support us through Dad’s funeral. Thank you for always being there for Mum, especially over the past couple of years, I know how much this meant to us all. I am so sorry that I cannot be there to say goodbye in person, and it’s heartbreaking that you felt you couldn’t reach out to any of us to help you. You gave Mum her the final holiday in Kent last year before she became too ill to travel. You looked after her throughout her visit and spoke to her almost daily this past year. I cannot express the sadness and disbelief you are no longer here. Thank you for loving us, we loved you too ♥️

Words cannot describe how you were as a friend and fellow human. You will be sorely missed by all who knew you and others will never know.

Only just heard!! Can't believe your gone. All always be thankful when you helped my Mum fix her front door after the break in. Promise I'll have a drink with Biff and think of you
