In loving memory of Brenda Fisher who sadly passed away on 28th June 2025.
Brenda was first and foremost a loving Wife, Mother and Nanny, never forgetting she was a sister and daughter, niece, and friend to many, loving and caring for all those around her. She will be remembered always for her infectious smile and gentle loving nature.
When you met Brenda she always had a way of making you feel important and always thought of others before herself. To a lot of people she was a financial ‘go to’. Always there with advice and offers of help. She would walk people through their problems, even giving mortgage and financial advice to the nurses during her last stay in hospital.
Brenda’s faith was very important to her and in the same way as she gave financial advice, she would share her faith with those who met her. It was a faith that was so strong she amazed many people with her courage and steadfast approach to her illness. Many of her nurses and doctors were Muslim, yet undaunted Brenda would discuss the differing views of ‘Paradise’ and Heaven, always letting those she talked with know that they were loved by God, as she knew she was.
Brenda’s diagnosis of Ovarian cancer came out of nowhere in 2014 and for 11 years she faced that battle head on with determination and courage. With thanks to all of those who prayed for her, Brenda would describe herself as being in ‘God’s bubble’ and that gave her comfort and at times peace; for this the whole family is eternally grateful. Such was Brenda’s faith that she had no doubt that in the end she would simply pass on to the next part of ‘her journey with God’ in Heaven.
As a family we will never be able to count the number of people that she influenced with her gentle approach. At church and at work, she is remembered with fondness for her positivity and warmth.
Her work colleagues had this to say about her; Brenda brought warmth and compassion into every room she entered. Whether it was her thoughtful words during a tough day or her infectious smile that lifted our spirits, she had a way of making people feel seen and valued. Her strength in the face of illness was nothing short of inspiring. Even during her most difficult days, she remained committed to her work, her friendships, and her belief in the power of kindness.
We know how much she will be missed, it is a huge hole that can never be fillled.
There will be a family committal service before a service of thanksgiving.
Everyone is welcome to join the family for a Service of Thanksgiving for Brenda on Tuesday 29th July, 11.45am at St Paul’s church, St. Paul's Drive, Covingham, Swindon SN3 5BY.
Brenda’s wish was that if you attend, you come ‘as you are’ simply wearing ‘not too much Black’ attire. Brenda also asked that in lieu of flowers on the day, if you are inclined to give a donation, then please give it to the Prospect Hospice in her memory, grateful for the care she received at home in those final days.
