It is with broken hearts that we would like to let everyone know that our lovely Dad Alan Painting has passed away after his brave battle with blood cancer.

He was surrounded by his children, listening to his favourite music and had a last taste of real ale before he passed.

Now reunited with his Mum, Dad and brother Bob he can finally rest in peace and hopefully they are having a party in heaven Painterman style.

He will be missed so much by his Children, Grandchildren, Great Grandchild and friends.

Funeral to be held at Southampton Crematorium (Basset Green Road), East chapel on Thursday 10th July at 12:15pm and then afterwards please come and celebrate his life with us at the Bitterne Park Social Club.

Instead of flowers it would be great if you could buy yourself a pint and raise it to Dad or if you would like to make a donation in his memory please donate to the NHS Blood and Transplant Trust Fund.

Thinking of you all at such a sad time. Alan you were such a lovely father-in-law, we had some fab times and great chats! The time that stands out most for me was the time we went on the Ale train for your birthday, brilliant day. Will miss your little birthday visits for us all, you never forgot any, even for myself and Molly, which really meant a lot. Alan, you will be missed xx

Alan, a great friend for over 50 years. We had so many good times together, our holidays, booze cruises, following and supporting the Saints. One of the best dart players I had the fortune to play with and against. We shared so many memories and now there's a vast Painter shaped hole in my life. Rest in peace Alan, a true friend
