We're unable to join you in celebrating Elizabeth's life on 17th, but would offer our sincere condolences to Andrew and other family and friends.
My family grew up as kids with Little Bess as we knew her when her Mum, Big Bess to us, became our Grandpa Alf Gosford's second wife after Grandma died when I was about 5 years old. I have many fond memories of regular family gatherings at Grandpa's house in Leigh on Sea. We were always there on Boxing Day, with grown ups sitting in chairs and us kids on the floor. My Dad Geoff Gosford, Mum and my brother Owen, with my Uncle Mick Gosford and Auntie Min, and my cousins Karen and Alwyn enjoyed days together, playing games, music and singing, walks along the seafront and chat with the grown-ups.
I remember hearing about Little Bess's pop idol, Cliff Richard, and listening to his music, and singing his songs. She had a distinctive fashion style throughout the time we knew her. Her love for cats is another strong memory, with the family cat choosing her lap over others. She was an intrinsic part of our relationship with our Grandpa as we grew up.
