In loving memory of Anthony "Tony" John Farrell who sadly passed away on 8th June 2025

On Sunday 8th June our lives were turned upside down when Tony Farrell, our loving husband, father and grandfather, suddenly passed away. We are all devastated beyond measure but the response from our family and friends has been such a great comfort. He was loved by so many due to his warm and caring nature and will be dearly missed. His funeral details are below and all are welcome to join us to pay their respects. This occasion will be extremely difficult for us all, but we want it to be a celebration of his incredible life. His favourite colour was blue, so we will be predominantly wearing this colour. We invite you to do the same but please do what you feel most comfortable with.

There will be a book of memories to fill in at the wake. Many have already sent through stories of Dad which have been brilliant to read. If you are unable to attend but want to share memories, then please let us know

Finally, Mum has requested family flowers only but encourages donations towards Breakthrough T1D to support their work. There will be donations collected on the day, or you can donate through the link.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Tony (Faz!) and I hitch-hiked to the Lakes District in the late 1960’s where we camped, walked and climbed Helvellyn. On our return journey he went into a hypo just after we had been dropped off at the top of the M6 ! I had never experienced this before but we managed to flag down a police car and they took us to Carnforth Police Station where was able to get a drink of sugar and water! A little later they took us back to the M6 to continue our journey home !
THE VERY FIRST car we ‘thumbed’ stopped and asked “where ya going lads “? NOTTINGHAM we said
SO AM I hop in ! He dropped us off several hours later in OLD MARKET SQUARE! Unbelievable
Someone was looking after us that day!

Mary and I were at the funeral yesterday and were overwhelmed and deeply moved by the ceremony which we felt offered real hope for the future! You were very blessed to have had such a wonderful and loving life together! What a man !

I was sad to hear of Tony's passing and I'm so sorry I can't attend his funeral, partly due to my poor mobility. It's been a long time since we last met, probably at a Catenian event. I think that Tony had been President of the Nottingham Circle and he was very kind and helpful to me especially as I was coming to terms with the Catholic Church, having then only recently been received. At one such event, Pauline, my wife, sat near Brigeen and it turned out that her family and Pauline's had come from the same street, or nearby, but the families were at the other side of the religious divide! Therefore we were really grateful for their friendship.

Tony's help was much appreciated and I'm sad to hear of his death. My prayers are with the family and will continue to be with Tony. May his soul rest in the peace of Jesus until he rises into the glory of heaven.

I am still able to con-celebrate Mass and I hope to be at the Catenian Circle special Mass on Sunday when I will offer my Mass for the repose of Tony's soul.

Marcus
