Helen Barbara Watkins (née Mitchell), aged 79, passed away peacefully on 16th June 2025.
Helen was born on 17th May 1946 in Shipley, West Yorkshire, to Donald and May Mitchell. Proud of her Yorkshire roots throughout her life, Helen carried her heritage with grace and warmth.
A committed and active member of her community, Helen gave her time generously to causes close to her heart. She delivered library books to the housebound, carried out footpath inspections for the county council, and played an integral role in the St Barnabas fundraising committee. She also spent many devoted years as a scout leader with the 1st Sullington & Storrington Scout Group, inspiring countless young people along the way.
Faith played a very important part throughout Helen's life, with her regularly attending chruch services.
She will be deeply missed by many, especially her devoted husband Stephen; her children, Iain, Iona, and Jamie; and her nine beloved grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, 7th July at 12:30 p.m. at Thakeham Church. All family and close friends are respectfully invited to attend and celebrate Helen’s life.
