Action For Pulmonary Fibrosis
Funeral Director
Thank you for taking the time to visit this page in memory of Ray. You will know, I am sure, that he had a full and very happy family life, full of fun and laughter. He was married to his wife Pat for almost sixty-one years, father to four girls, Lorraine, Allison, Jane and Trudy, grandfather to 11 grandchildren and great grandad to 4 great grandchildren.
Ray was diagnosed with interstitial pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and, over the years that followed, every aspect of his daily life was affected. Sadly, during the last few months, he had a very rapid deterioration in his lung condition and he slipped away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and four girls at Southampton General Hospital.
Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis is a national UK charity who bring people together to drive change so more people affected by pulmonary fibrosis (or lung scarring) can live well for longer. They provide expert support, information, education, help a growing network of support groups and raise awareness of pulmonary fibrosis to bring hope for new and future treatments for this devastating disease.
It is estimated between 15,000 and 20,000 people a year are diagnosed with lung scarring. Despite pulmonary fibrosis being as deadly as some cancers, it takes too long for people to get diagnosed, treated and supported.
Thank you for choosing to honour and remember Ray by making a gift to Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis in his memory. A loved one remembered can mean a better future for those affected by pulmonary fibrosis.
