David John Mansfield 10th February 1956 - 30th May 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Mansfield, who died peacefully on 30th May 2025.

Born in Rochford on 10th February 1956, Dave dedicated much of his life to his work at Trinity House as a skilled and respected Civil Engineer, but Dave was much more than his profession - he was a man of many talents, always the one people turned to when something needed fixing, solving or simply doing right.

In retirement, Dave fully embraced his passions. He found great joy in - and occasional frustration in flying his model planes at his local flying club where he was well known for his crash landings, as he was for his laughter and camaraderie.

A proud and loyal supporter of Southend United, Dave rarely missed a home game and loved his regular meet-ups with his close friends for the cherished ‘breakfast club’.

Above all, Dave was a devoted family man. He worked tirelessly to provide a good life for his beloved wife Sharon and their three daughters Jenna, Carly and Leah. He was the kind of father everyone hopes for - dependable, kind and endlessly loving.

Dave’s pride for his family was obvious to all that knew him and he was never happier than when surrounded by his grandchildren, Lola, Lottie, Oliver, Alice, Elsie, Oscar and Chester. Each of whom bought him endless joy.

Dave’s absence leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who loved him. He will be remembered for his warmth, his humour, his quiet strength and the way he always put others first.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held in due course, details to follow.

Our thoughts and love are with Sharon and family. Dave was the kindest man, fun to be around and we enjoyed many grandkids parties with him. He was always up for a joke and a laugh. I had great fun looking to help purchase his much loved motorbike. Happy memories. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him. God Bless you Dave xx

Grew up with David in Tiptree Close. Played football with him but lost contact for about 30 years. Reunited through Graham Fidgeon. It was good to reminisce childhood memories. Will miss you at the get together. Condolences to your family.
