We recently entrusted the funeral arrangements for my husband to the team at Stibbards and I cannot thank them enough for the exceptional care and support they provided throughout. In particular, Diane at the Hockley office was absolutely wonderful. Nothing was ever too much trouble, no matter how many questions or requests we had at what was naturally a very difficult time. She dealt with everything with kindness, patience and professionalism, and made the whole process so much easier for us. I would also like to mention Scott, who was overseeing things on the day itself. My husband had been a former Scout and lifelong Scout Leader, and Scott took our idea of involving the Scout leaders and adapted it in such a thoughtful and fitting way. It added a very personal and meaningful touch to the service and helped give him the send-off he deserved. Sadly, I have had the misfortune of needing to use their services several times in recent times, and on every occasion the care, dignity and attention shown by the staff have been outstanding. Thank you once again to everyone involved.

The caring team at S Stibbards & Sons understand that contacting a funeral director can seem daunting, but with over 150 years experience, they are there to listen, reassure and support families at this very difficult time.

As a funeral home with family values at its heart, its focus is upon providing compassionate funeral care to families in Hockley and the surrounding villages, including Foulness Island, at whatever time of day or night it is needed.

When it can be hard to focus on decision-making, it is the role of their caring team to listen and support families in a reassuring space where they can focus on their loved one.

S Stibbards & Sons’ Hockley funeral home provides a calm and tranquil atmosphere in which to make funeral arrangements. It has a private chapel of rest where you can spend precious time with your loved one, reassured that their funeral wishes are being taken care of. Should you prefer support in more familiar surroundings, a home visit can be arranged.

Whether families prefer a full traditional funeral service, or a quiet farewell tailored to their needs, funeral director Martin Stibbards and his experienced staff aim to ensure that the arrangements fulfil every family’s wishes.

Stibbards offers a fleet of modern Jaguar hearses and limousines to ensure families and their loved one will travel in comfort, driven by their professional staff. Traditional horse-drawn hearses, vintage vehicles and other bespoke options can also be arranged.

S Stibbards & Sons is a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors and Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Homes Association (SAIF) and meets the high standards set by both.

It offers Golden Charter funeral plans to those who are considering the future, while as part of its support for families, it offers in-house bereavement counselling.

    The whole process in arranging the funeral was handled professionally and sensitively by Diane in the Hockley office. 
    She had helped us arrange our late dad’s only two years prior and her help at that time was a key factor in us returning for their services.

    We chose Stibbards of Hockley for my mum’s funeral, and I cannot speak highly enough of the care we received. The arrangements were handled by Diane Ellis, who was kind, professional, and compassionate from start to finish. She guided us through every step with patience and understanding during a very difficult time.

    Diane also introduced us to Nikki Deveraux, who visited us beforehand and took great care in writing and delivering a beautiful eulogy. It truly captured Mum’s life and spirit.

    The whole day was flawlessly managed by the Stibbards team. Everything ran smoothly and with dignity. Mum would have been very proud, and I’m extremely pleased we chose Stibbards.

    Thank you for an outstanding service throughout, Diane has been so supportive and made sure everything was just right in the lead up to the funeral and ensured my mum was looked after with the utmost respect.
