I have so many wonderful and happy memories of being the Chief Bridesmade at your wedding. I felt so honoured to be asked. I always looked up to you and I rembember saying that you and Auntie Theresa were my favourite Auntie and Uncle. I always looked up to you both.
I will never forget your help and support when I was first diagnosed with Parkinsons. You were so kind - thank you.

Alan Heritage donated £250 in memory of Richard

I hope our donation here will enable the memories of Richard to continue to make a difference by helping others who are or will suffer from Parkinsons in the future. It is impossible to capture and do justice to a lifetime of memories on this page, but to just say he was a much loved brother who will be missed in so many ways. We all always stood by our fathers ethos of mutual support and lifelong friendship. It was so good to have been able to have shared Richard and Theresa’s golden anniversary a short ime ago, another memory to treasure.

Richard will be forever in our thoughts with love and fond memories. Alan & Carolyn xx

My first encounter with you was when I appeared before you whilst you served as a Magistrate at the Brook, Chatham. I had been charged with Actual Bodily Harm following my detention of a prolific shoplifter attempting to steal some flowers from one of my shops. The Police were duly called and I was taken to the Police Station and after a stay of 10 hours in a police cell, was charged.
When the case eventually went to court I appeared before you and the evidence was read.
“Are you being completely serious “ you enquired of the prosecution solicitor.
Together with a number of character references from my past life as a retired Royal Naval Reserve Officer, as well as a character reference from a certain Mr John Weir, JP, Funeral Director you said,
“This is completely nonsense and a waste of the courts time”. “Release this man”
I had been arrested for protecting my own property and you Sir was having none of it.
Over the many years that have passed since you together with your Wife and Sons have been loyal customers at my shop and your passing has made me reflect on just how quickly life can change. The chain of events that led me before you could have ended very differently.
I thanked you then Mr Heritage and I do so again now.
May you rest in eternal peace.

Uncle Richard you were so very funny with me. Always telling jokes and taking the Micky. When I worked at Tesco and you popped in for a few items you would see me and deliberately shove things up your jumper pretending to steal them!! As if!! Thank you for the smile's the dreadful jokes and having a stern word with me when I skipped school and ran off to London for the day. I was always proud to have you as an uncle With Love to all your family xxxxxx

It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of our former colleague, Richard, who served with dedication as a magistrate on the North Kent Bench.
Richard’s commitment to justice and public service left a lasting impression on all who worked alongside him. His wisdom, fairness, and unwavering integrity were deeply valued, and his contributions to the Bench will be long remembered.
On behalf of the North Kent Bench, I extend our heartfelt condolences to Richard’s family, friends, and all who knew and respected him. With deepest sympathy, Pam.
