Peter Hargreaves (13 Mar 1940 - 12 May 2025)

Peter sera toujours l’ami de notre famille avec le souvenir des moments partagés avec lui tant en Angleterre qu’en France. Nous aimions son style gentleman, son érudition, sa gentillesse. Francis et Clara se joignent à moi pour transmettre à tous, et particulièrement à toi Jacqueline, notre compassion face à l’absence ressentie.
Jacqueline, même si je réponds tardivement au faire-part, sache que je pense bien à toi. Je te rappellerai au téléphone. Je t’embrasse mon amie ainsi que tous les tiens.

My deepest condolences to you and all your families on the loss of Peter. Such a kind and knowledgeable man who will be greatly missed. May Peter rest in peace and his memory be a blessing and comfort to you all.

I will greatly miss your wisdom and wit, Peter. The first conversation we ever had touched upon our shared interest in choral music, and your deep knowledge of both the Orthodox and Anglican traditions make this charity most apt.

To Jacqueline, Lucie-Jane, Jonathan & Samuel. Sending all my love & condolences to you at this very sad time. I deeply regret I cannot attend my dear Uncle's funeral. Peter was very special to me and stepped in for me in many ways after my own Dad died, in particularly giving me away on my wedding day. We connected through our common love for Music, France & French people. My Mum was so happy when he returned to live in Yorkshire & it's so sad that they hardly saw each other due to their own health issues, and now as brother & sister they will join each other and Nan & Pop in heaven & sing with the hearts of angels. Uncle Peter will leave a huge void in the life of so many, particularly you four, and I wish you all strength & love over the coming weeks. May Peter rest in Peace. All my love Heather

Farewell, then, Peter. We met so very many years ago and shared an interest in philosophy and discovering ancient standing stones and stone circles. I'm so happy that you met Jacqueline and had such a happy life with her and your growing family. Rest in peace.

Well done Peter you always kept us interested and lived a full life

All my condolences to the Hargreaves family. Meeting Peter as a child made a great impact on my life and made me passionate about learning languages and different cultures. I will always cherish lovingly the memories I have with him, especially as he was the first person I ever spoke English with.
