Desmond Emery (May 1958 – April 2025)

Desmond Emery, known to all as Des, passed away in 2025 and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Born in May 1958 in Croydon, Des spent much of his life in Reigate, Surrey. He built a successful career in business development, working in the travel and financial services sectors with well-known companies such as Avis and American Express.

Des married Caroline just over 30 years ago, and together they raised two children, Joseph and Caitlin, who were the pride and joy of his life. A devoted family man, Des’s passions extended beyond his loved ones to Crystal Palace Football Club—his family celebrated their recent FA Cup win with delight—his eclectic taste in music, and his beloved dogs, especially the beagles Barney and Robbie, and most recently his adopted Puggle, Olive.

A keen traveller, Des shared many adventures with his family, creating cherished memories in destinations such as Bali, South Africa, the Ionian Islands, Spain, Portugal, Turkey and USA - especially his beloved Sanibel Island

Des is remembered with love and gratitude by his wife Caroline, children Joseph and Caitlin, and his sister Angela.

Des’s funeral is being held on 12th June at 10.30 AM at St Mary’s, Chart Lane, Reigate. Followed by a Woodland Burial at nearby Nutfield Cemetery. Strictly no flowers as the Woodland Cemetery will not accept them. All attendees are invited back to the family home for a reception afterwards. Please inform Caroline directly, or press the Attendance button on the website if you are able to attend.

Happy memories Des. The little man on springs perched on your loudspeaker dancing madly to Queen & U2 made us laugh hysterically in Penge with Caroline.
Riding on horseback to the bottom of The Grand Canyon with Caroline and the massive steak afterwards, not to mention the speeding ticket from the Arizona police!
Fun days.
God Bless and all love to Caroline, Joe and Cait.
Sally.
