Mum was born in Itchen, Woolston Southampton at her mothers home on 30.09.1933 as a sibling to older sister Jean Johnson.
She attended Woolston girls school and was a member of the Girl Guides. She was also keen on ballroom dancing where she met my father as his mother taught it along with piano. She moved to Merry Oak Bitterne in late 1959 and had myself on 3.6.1960 and my brother on 8.10.1963.
She separated from my father Darian Nicholson in 1967 and although married two further times to Ivan Stickley and Bob Cooper she spent many years alone being fiercely independent.
She taught herself to type and to use Pitman shorthand and was able to work in various secretarial roles for architects solicitors and latterly the National Dock Labour Board in Southampton until their closure. She had many hobbies including ballroom dancing, bowling, oil painting, reflexology and became a spiritualist healer. Perhaps her biggest joy was cooking and creating decorative Cakes in Royal Icing. She had 3 cats during her life whom she also loved.
After a period of illness she passed away at the end of March 2025 at the age of 91 at Southampton General Hospital but until then she was still living at her original married home in Merry Oak.

  • I should also add that she also enjoyed flower arranging and Christmas table decorations.
