Olive was born in the upstairs bedroom of the family home in Acton, on 3rd April 1929. She had 2 sisters and 3 brothers. When she left school, Olive went to train as a Registered Nurse at Charing Cross Hospital. Once qualified, she joined the Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corp as a Lieutenant. Her life of travel began with her first posting to Benghazi, Libya. Here, she met and married her husband, Keith. As Keith worked as an overseas member of Cable and Wireless they lived in Ascension Island, Bermuda and Aden. They had 4 children. Olive continued her career as a nurse and also ran her own pre-school for awhile. On returning to the UK, due to Keith's ill health, they decide to travel, exploring Scotland and the North of England. Olive started work at Southend Hospital and qualified as a Nursing Sister. Sadly, Olive was widowed at just 55 and never remarried. Her 4 children and their ever growing families kept her very busy. She had 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren of whom she adored and spoilt rotten. In June last year she had a fall at home breaking her leg and after a spell in hospital came home. Sadly, Olive found it very difficult to have to rely on others so much, those of you who know her, know she was staunchly independent. On Tuesday 25th March Olive passed away peacefully in her own home.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Olives life and to wear colour, not black. Olive requested for donations to be made to Cancer Research UK rather than flowers.

Dear Grandma,

We love you and we thank you.

Thank you for teaching us the important things - like drinking the milk straight from the cereal bowl, and that there’s always room for hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows.
Thank you for the summers growing up - playing with our cousins, staying up late to watch the foxes, and making sure we knew we definitely didn’t like kidney in my spaghetti bolognese.
Thank you Grandma for being such a special part of our lives.
We love you so much, and we’re going to miss you more than we can say.

Love always,
Emma

We only knew olive for a short while compared to her long eventful life. What a lovely lady keeping herself busy feeding the birds, squirrels and pottering in her garden.
I will miss our chats over the garden fence.
Sadly missed xx
