Janet 'Jan' Metland (25 Mar 1943 - 11 Mar 2025)

I have lovely memories of Auntie Janet and remember her fondly

A few things come to mind when I think of you, Nan—
The cheerful chirping of the budgies as we stepped through your front door,
The smell of perfectly baked cheese and bacon pastries,
Over feeding the fish in the garden pond,
A “thick ear” when it was needed,
Your patience watching me do the same old handstand over and over,
Caravan holidays, Spanish getaways, and the little moments in between.
You were truly one in a million—taken from us once, every day, and now one last time.
 But your place in my heart is large, lasting, and filled with love.
I love you the most.

Thinking of you Mandy on the loss of your lovely mum

I remember when I was little Jan and I used to trail around with you and Ray it was lovely to have a big sister and I was lucky enough to have two you and Pauline looked out for me and I often stayed at your house and was always welcome I loved you so much and will continue to love you till the day I too leave this world and join you .

Thank you for the memories Jan. Your beautiful smile lit up the room. You were such an important part of our Carden family and are so missed. Fly high lovely lady. 🦋🦋💕

Thank you for being a great Nan , I used to love spending the summer holidays with you and grandad; if I could go back to those days I would, they were the best days of my life. When we used to go to the caravan and visit the coast at bexhill you would always say to me that you loved me more than all the pebbles on the beach and I would always say back that I loved you more than all the grains of sand and it was true. At night you would always give us a kiss and say na night and god bless, I still use it to say to Sarah now. I have so many amazing memories from all those times we spent together, but mostly that you always made me feel safe and loved. I’m happy you are at peace and can go and be with grandad now. I still love you more than all those grains of sand and I will miss you. Xx

you will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by those who knew her. rest gently, Jan. your voice was always heard in the ways that mattered most.
