In loving memory of John Howard Bull who very sadly passed away on 26th March 2025.

Lynne, Jonathan and Gareth have selected Macmillan as our chosen charity for voluntary donations. Macmillan have been helping people affected by cancer and their families for over a 100 years. They provide essential care, guidance and support to people living with cancer across the UK.

Through Lynne's voluntary experience with Citizens's Advice she has seen how profoundly a cancer diagnosis can impact individuals and families. Beyond the impact on an individual's health a cancer diagnosis often brings complex emotional and practical challenges as well. Macmillan is a lifeline for so many people, supporting them every step of the way through their cancer journey.

Thank you for supporting Macmillan with a gift in John's memory.

I met John at the Thresholders youth club in Hornchurch in the early 1970s and have many happy memories of Sunday morning snooker, pints shared, motorbikes worked on and music listened to. Our lives diverged but John was an important part of my young life.

I first met John when we were in the cubs together in about 1965, where his competitive streak was much in evidence in the games that we played. Our friendship grew as we navigated our teenage years and attended the Thresholders youth club in Hornchurch, went fishing and all the other things teenagers do. John’s prowess in mastering all things mechanical, which later manifested itself in his ability to repair motorbikes and cars, was a joy to behold. I think it was a skill he inherited from his father. His love of music, both listening to and playing, developed when he was a teenager. When one of us would buy a new album, the afternoon was spent listening to it over and over again, almost wearing the grooves flat. Like many, as time wore on I left Essex and we had our families, our meetings were few and far between, but much treasured. John has been taken from us far too soon, and is much missed. My love to you Lynne, Jonathan and Gareth.

I first met John on a French ski piste over 55 years ago on a school trip. Subsequently we met again in 18 plus and worked together.
John of course had a great love of skiing which resulted in him and Lynne buying a Bulgarian property. I will never forget John’s enthusiasm for life which was so infectious.

I first met John at school aged eleven. We then studied Business at University and worked together in our first job. After moving on, we continued to meet regularly in the City and Essex for over 40 years. John was a kind, dynamic and amusingly unpredictable character with a quick wit and an incredible sense of humour. He was an amazing friend, I have many happy memories of the times we spent together.
