In loving memory of Irene Jean Powell who sadly passed away peacefully at home on 25th January 2025. The youngest of eight siblings, Irene, was born in 1928, in Deptford, London. She worked in the office and accounts department of Merritt and Hatcher, a printing company in Greenwich where she met her late husband Ernie, who was a compositor on one of the local newspapers the company printed. They married in August 1953, and were devoted to each other, celebrating their Diamond Wedding Anniversary in 2013. They had two children John and Julie and Irene was a wonderful mum to them both. She was a housewife who looked after her own mum and her sister Winifred (visiting them every day). She liked to knit, play the organ and she loved her garden.
