Physics is a fundamental science and it's all around us. As an academic subject it's not the easiest, but JEB excelled at putting across the basic principles.

It was a pleasure to know John. He was such a loyal member of the St Mary’s choir and his fine tenor voice will be greatly missed. He led the choir in the vestry prayers before each service. These, and his intercessions, were always thoughtfully and meticulously prepared. He was always interested in individuals, and unfailingly courteous. A true Christian gentleman- rest in peace, John.

A pleasure to have known you, John. Thank you for the time we spent sharing tales of sailing and the sea. May your soul 'peacefully furl its sail in a mooring sheltered from storm and gale, and greet friends who sailed before o'er the unknown sea to the unknown shore...'.
