In loving memory of Alvan Geoffrey Hibbert, who sadly passed away on the 27th of November 2024 peacefully whilst at home with family.

Dad died at 93 after a long, happy life, I’m sure he slept well at night knowing he had raised a happy family.

Dad was born in London and lived in various places, one being Canada but settled in Henlow Camp where he met mum and they married in 1960. He worked at Vauxhalls retiring early enjoying nearly 40 years of retirement!
He loved spending his time looking after his grandchildren, his allotment, riding his MG and boating.

Funeral date: 19th December 11am at the Vale in Luton.
Reception date: 19th December 11:45 at Putteridgebury.

Tribute to Dad

We are all blessed to have Alvan, Dad, Grandad & Great Grandad in our lives.

Dad was a true gentleman and firstly he would want me to thank everyone for being here and the kind messages to the family.

Many thanks to those who helped look after or supported dad, including neighbours Jackie and Derek, Joe and Matt, the Luton Freindship Homecarers Kuda & Siya.

Dad was always happy to see the family, always asked how we are and greeted everyone with a smile.
Even with the onset of dementia he knew everyone name and loved his family very much and was always a pleasure to visit.

Dad created many happy memories for his family.
The family home in Barton Road with the summer house the Grandchildren loved playing in.
Trips in the MG, often taking the grandchildren to the allotment.
His love of border collie dogs and many walks, even Jep who would growl at the bottom of the stairs trapping the grandchildren on the steps.

Family holidays and days out our boats ‘We maid’, ‘Maid Marian’ & ‘Shalimar’ our second homes. Dad always had to have his 2 pints before we were allowed to order food at the many pubs.
At family gatherings, mum will tell dad off for being a little bit tipsy and he would jokingly respond with cheeky grin on his face ‘see what I have to put up with’.

Dad was always smartly dress, check shirts, jumper, trouser and his flat cap.
We will even forgive him for wearing his Jesus sandals and socks.

Little things remind us of dad, fish and chips Thursday, roast potatoes, trifles, mum’s chocolate eclairs and the Barton Cutting, which he insisted on freewheeling down to see how far he could go before putting the car back in gear.

We miss you so much already, we never said to each other ‘I love you’ but we always knew by our actions.

We must thank our mum for the care see gave to dad, especially in the final year.
Dad don’t worry it is now our turn to look after mum.

To conclude I will use dad’s final saying and his own reflection.

‘It’s been a good life’.

God bless and rest in Peace.

Hibbert / Beary / Bushnell
