Dear Susan, We’ve said our final goodbye to you. The weather was beautiful and the day was as perfect as it could be, which you truly deserved. We remembered and celebrated your life, sharing our memories of you with each other, it was up lifting.
Yes we are now incredibly sad but you enriched the lives of those who knew you in so many ways. The sadness will lift in time as we treasure our memories of you but our lives are changed forever so we will gradually learn to adapt.
You were the most kind, generous, loving soul and I was blessed to have you as my sister.
Rest in peace now along with your beloved Ralph and Mum and Dad. Free from the pain and challenges you endured so stoically. The strength and determination you showed daily is inspirational to us all.
You will always be in our hearts, love always Karen and Paul xxxxx

Auntie Susan was so much more than her disability and set-backs in life, and seeing how independent and strong she was really inspired me to be the same. I always felt a powerful sense of connection with her, and she would go on to become a huge role model in my life. Auntie Susan never let anyone or anything stand in her way, and growing up seeing this made me want to be as fiercely resilient as she was. I didn’t ever tell Auntie Susan this, but I’d like to think that maybe she saw the influence her positive attitude and determination had on me and all those around her. Auntie Susan was incredibly supportive of my running for UNICEF. She would always message me the night before a big event, which meant a lot because she knew I would be staying on my own before a marathon. She was very proud that I was taking part in the London Marathon, and told everyone she knew. Even her postman ended up sponsoring me! Her enthusiasm really meant a lot to me, and whenever I run, I’ll remember her encouraging words.
Love you always, Auntie Susan xXx

Dear Susan,
We said our final goodbye to you yesterday. The sun shon and the day was as perfect as it could be, which you truly deserved. We remembered and celebrated your life, it was up lifting.
I now have to adjust to life without you and yes I am incredibly sad but you enriched my life in so many ways. You were the most kind, generous, loving soul and I was blessed to have you as my big sister. The strength you portrayed each and every day has given me the strength to get through the time from you loss. I must now keep this moving forward and feel comforted by the memories we shared and the support you always gave me.
Rest in peace now my darling along with your beloved Ralph, Mum and Dad. Free from the pain and challenges you endured so stoically.
You have a special place in Paul’s heart too, he loved you and doing practical things for you. You always had KitKats and tea ready and waiting for him xxx
You will always be in my heart, love always Karen xxxxx

Auntie Susan
I know that no matter what
You will always be with me.
When life separates us
I’ll know it is only your soul
Saying goodbye to your body
But your spirit will be with me always.
When I see a bird chirping on a nearby branch
I will know it is you singing to me.
When a butterfly brushes gently by me so care freely
I will know it is you assuring me you are free from pain.
When the gentle fragrance of a flower catches my attention
I will know it is you reminding me
To appreciate the simple things in life.
When the sun shining through my window awakens me
I will feel the warmth of your love.
When I hear the rain pitter patter against my window sill
I will hear your words of wisdom
And will remember what you taught me so well’
That without rain trees cannot grow
Without rain flowers cannot bloom
Without life’s challenges I cannot grow strong.
When I look out to the sea.
